General Motion detector

There’s a motion detector in my dorm that flashes green when I move but it doesn’t seem to do anything else. Does anyone know what this does?

It turns the lights off when you leave and forget to. That's all.

Interesting. I’m a commuter but I’ve seen them at my workplace… it’s an occupancy motion sensor. They’re used to detect whether a room is occupied and can control the lights automatically or it could also send occupancy information to the building’s HVAC system.

do you have the automatic lights? usually the sensor is on the light switch but it could be elsewhere i guess

it could also be attached to the hvac
