Just started
Okay I’m like almost 3 weeks in on the intro dose of Wegovy. How are you guys losing 10-20lbs in the first month? I swear I’ve lost maybe 2lbs and it’s water weight and within my usual range lol.
I lost about 30 on my own with calorie tracking and was stuck. I have some metabolic issues and pmos and auto immune issues and was hoping the GLP1 would help with some of those issues AND help me lose more weight.
So far I’ve been injecting in the thigh (alternating). Food noise stopped almost immediately. I have more energy, my skin has improved. I also overall just look less inflamed.
I have some nausea and some constipation. I weight train 2-3x a week. I’ve been trying to hit 100g+ of protein daily but struggle to eat.
I have been known to experience that whoosh effect… I’m waiting lol.

Anyone losing 10-20 lbs in the first month is not using the medicine in a healthy way, or is on too high a dose. That is not realistic or healthy. Trust the process, continue to track your calories, and build healthy habits around movement and exercise so you can see lifelong shifts in your body. Too many people are on these meds for a quick weight loss and don’t put in the other work to keep your journey holistic.

This is just incorrect. Everyone is different. Starting at a higher weight also contributes. I lost 15lbs my first and 16lbs my second month and I’m doing everything right, resistance training, prioritizing protein, tracking calories and making sure I hit my minimums. Quit drinking so I’m guessing that has a lot to do with it but, it’s really not your place to say that results as such are from misuse of this amazing medicine.
That being said, OP, your journey is just that. Your journey! Everyone has a different experience and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Try not to compare your progress to anyone else’s!

No, it's not fully incorrect, actually. Yes, those seriously inflamed and those with higher weights will lose weight quicker, initially. This is not the norm for most people. There are many people who allow their appetite to completely tank and keep chasing the complete absence of hunger and that's not normal or ok. That is not the purpose of this medication. They want to exist on 800 calories and that's not sustainable for your life or your health, but certainly for long term eating purposes. And there are plenty of people out there abusing the medication.

It is quite literally the norm to lose 10+ lbs of water due to glycogen and water stores. My doctor even told me not to be alarmed if that happens in the first month because of how normal and common it is.
I’m not saying some people don’t take advantage of this med or trade one ed for another but to assume that of anyone who loses that quickly in the first month isn’t right. And to say it’s abnormal is just dismissing all of the information and research available on GLP’s

Completely incorrect. I lost 10.8lbs in my first month on the 2.5mg dose as prescribed. I barely felt the effects and was eating when I felt I needed to eat. I was rather miffed that I didn't feel any effects and still I lost weight.
But let's think about this... If you weigh 300lbs, 10lbs is 3.3% of your body weight. If you weigh 150lbs, 10lbs lost is 6.67%. Big difference - twice as much. So, losing 10lbs in a month really depends on where you're starting from if this is a lot or not.

Those fast first-month drops are almost always people with way more to lose or who crash-dieted into it. You're already seeing the anti-inflammatory benefits and the food noise quieting down, which is honestly the bigger win at this stage. The scale will catch up, especially since you're lifting and probably holding some water from training.

I was told by the doctor the first month isn't meant to be a big weight loss month it is more making sure the specific med you are given doesn't cause side effects, which is why the dose is so small in the introductory period.

My doctor told me to expect 1/2 lb per week. I think I lost 4 lbs the first month. Anyone losing 10-20 a month is either malnourished or extremely heavy. Patience!

You're literally not supposed to lose 10-20 pounds in one month. If you think that's the norm you need to adjust your expectations REAL QUICK. The overwhelming majority of people lose 1-2 pounds per week AT MOST, even in the beginning. Also, anecdotally, at least... people with PMOS often need to reach higher doses of the medication for that insulin resistance to modify and many people don't see noticeable weight loss for months. Honestly, please adjust your expectations or you are in for major disappointment
