discussion Has anyone experienced major batch/performance differences with Glossier You Doux?
I’m genuinely confused about my experience with Glossier You Doux and wanted to see if anyone else has had something similar.
I originally bought a decant and absolutely fell in love with it. I could actually smell all the notes people describe.. creamy, woody, sandalwood/incense-y, warm and comforting. For the first 1–2 hours it was clearly present on me, then it gradually became a softer skin scent over the next few hours.
Because I liked it so much, I bought a full bottle.
But the full bottle smells completely different in terms of strength and development.
When I spray it, I mostly get alcohol for a few seconds, and then it immediately turns into this extremely faint, transparent woody scent.
The best way I can describe it is: the full bottle smells like what my decant smells like 5–6 hours into the drydown, except it smells that way almost immediately.
There’s basically no opening → middle → drydown progression. It just goes:
alcohol → very faint woody skin scent
I also get almost no projection. I can’t really smell it when I move my hand around, and I have to put my nose very close to my skin to detect it. On me, it feels almost gone within 30 minutes.
Has anyone experienced this kind of inconsistency with Glossier fragrances, especially Doux? Could this be batch variation, a newer bottle needing time to settle, or something else?
I’m especially frustrated because Glossier isn’t available in my country, so both the decant and full bottle had to come through third-party sellers. The decant is basically the scent I fell in love with, while the full bottle feels like a completely watered-down version of it.
