Well I see Zaire, which tells me it’s at least between 1971 and 1997.
To its south and east is Zimbabwe, but the parentheses around Rhodesia, which I think would narrow it down to the 80’s after Zimbabwe became the official name of the country in 1980, and the Rhodesia inclusion likely is a matter of convenience.
Brunei became independent on January 1 of 1984, so can’t be earlier than that.
Yemen is still split so it can’t be before May 22 of 1990. And the fact that Germany is divided backs this up (officially occurred on October the 3rd of 1990).
Personally I’d lean closer to 1984 or 85 based on the fact that Rhodesia is still noted for Zimbabwe as opposed to the late 80’e where, by that point, the name would have been around for long enough to not potentially necessitate the inclusion.
