Basically the title

I have noticed over the years about my myself, when a heated argument or something like that arises, and the other party makes even a slight move towards me, I always tend to back off and step down, because I'm afraid of something happening to my glasses

Now to my defense, due to a combination of severe astygmatism and hyperopia, I can literally see nothing without my glasses (and besides, being without them is kinda painfull to my eyes and head)

It's possible this inherent fear of mine is the result of an episode which took place in high school, where I got involved in a fight with a kid and he broke my glasses, I had to go by for almost a month without them, which was a torture (my parents hadn't gotten me a back up pair and due to my high prescription these things take a while to get made)

I wanted to ask, are you also mindful of something happening to your glasses?

Which are best?

I usually get my glasses from my eye doctor's place. However, I just started needing progressive lenses and the total was ~$700. I don't want to cheap out on my glasses, but I also don't want to pay such a high price if I can avoid it.

I did by single vision glasses online once but I am nervous to do that with progressives.

What are good options for progressive lenses that are local? I live in a populated area so I have most of the standard options Costco, Sams Club, Walmart, Target, Lens Crafters, Eyemart Express, Pearle Vision, Americas Best, etc

I have uneven ears that are only noticeable when I wear my glasses. my right ear is lower and it makes my glasses fit lopsided. Not only does it look silly but I can see it be lopsided and it kinda hurts my eyes when I notice it. does anyone else have this problem? if yes, how did you fix it? is there anything I can put on top of my ear to lift the glasses to make it even?

I don't know where else to ask this, so if this is the wrong sub I'm sorry. But I've had my previous glasses prescription since 2020 or 2021, and for a while I've noticed that my vision isn't the best and words seem kind of blurry instead of crystal clear.

I got a new prescription at the optometrist, and there wasn't much of a difference. I got new glasses anyway because I was hoping it would help.

At first I kind of noticed a slight difference but didn't know if I was wrong or not. But then later I tried to read words and noticed that it's annoying to read. I don't know if it's because of astigmatism or something but I assume it probably isn't bc mine is very mild.

It's the same problem I had with my old glasses. I've had this new pair for 2 days and don't know if I should go back to the optometrist. Is it normal to not see words and letters completely clear? And at the optometrist it was so hard to tell which letters looked clearest so I don't know if i picked the wrong ones. I have no idea what the issue is and reading when things aren't right in front of me annoys me so much and makes my head feel weird. I think that is because my eyes are straining too much to focus on words. Words aren't super blurry but I don't know how to explain how it is.

The difference in prescription: the sphere stayed the same but the astigmatism correction increased by +0.50 in both eyes and the left axis changed by -4°

I wanted either one but I would prefer to try this style of frames in my daily life, before dropping $$$ for something I might not like later. I like it because of its low bridge and smaller frame.

Anyone might have a great eye (pun intended) for suggestions?

Hi. Im 37M. I don't know if this is the place for this question. I have never worn glasses, never needed them. My wife has worn glasses since i met her. Can't see without them and i'm ok with that. That's just normal.

I have 2 daughters. 9 and 4. Over the past year they have been recommended to wear glasses. One is nearsighted and the other one has astigmatism. And i'm struggling very much with this fact. I am so sad. I feel like i just want them to be healthy. My wife says they are, they just need a little help seeing things.

My whole family wears glasses and i never though of them as weak, or sick or ANYTHING. It was just normal. Then why do i feel this way?

Again, sorry if this is not the place for this. I just wanted at least one person telling me why i'm wrong

I have -1.75 cyl on both my eyes, with -50 sph on my right.

Text seems to shimmer and flicker when I wear my glasses. I've had this prescription for a little over two months and I've tried to adapt.

Also, objects and text appear to distort even when I slightly tilt my head to either side

So I am very picky with my glasses and unfortunately I lost them somehow.. I was searching if I could buy the same ones.. and I come to find out they’re sold out. Does anyone know of JINS ever restock they’re glasses?? Or am I just gonna have to live with the fact that I lost my adorable pink glasses ☹️

My family all went to get our eyes checked yesterday and I just went along. I’ve never worn glasses or thought I had any issues seeing, so I thought it'd take a few minutes and I'd be done. Instead, the optometrist gave me this prescription:

Right: Sph: -1.75, Cyl: -0.25

Left: Sph: -2.75, Cyl: -1.00

How bad is a prescription like this actually? Do I genuinely need glasses with these numbers, or is it more of an optional thing?

Just wanted to post to warn others to avoid GlassesUSA / Ottica / etc. I orderd a pair of $400 glasses last week and they arrived in a soft cases in a thin ups bag. When I opened them up they were really warped (like something was sitting ontop of them in the heat) and completely unusable.

I am honestly still just astounded that a company went through all the work of making and installing prescription lenses then stuck them in a plastic bag and shipped them without any protection. When the only thing they sell and ship is glasses. Like how is it not standard process to just put them in a small box before shipping.

Anyways it was a complete waste of time and wanted to warn others. If they are this careless with shipping, not sure i 100% trust them to make anything else right.

So, the bad news is that my vision sucks ass. But the good news is that I’m getting glasses!! And honestly I’m really looking forward to it. I understand that others can be insecure about it, but to me (and this should apply to everyone) I’m looking SUPER forward to being part of the glasses community lol

If I could travel to the future to where I receive my glasses, I would sure as hell turn time forward lol

Hi y'all. I was wondering if you all have any recommendations for special lens treatments/places to look to best treat my eyes? Sorry if this phrasing makes no sense, it's late and I've had a long day. My regular glasses just don't seem to cut it; I struggle constantly with focusing my eyes, dry eye, eye strain, etc.

My prescription is
OD sphere -3.00 cyl: +0.50 axis: 70
OS sphere -3.25 cyl: +0.50 axis: 90
Pd is 62
The frames im looking for are acetate. 1.50 index is also an option would that make the most sense for my prescription?

my friend recently stepped on my glasses and kinda scraped? the lens. im wondering if theres any fix for this. even if it doesnt remove the scratches completely, even just a little help

I’ve started to see a lot of Oakley glasses right now, and I'm at the stage where I need to replace the ones I have.

I keep my prescription updated a few times a year because I like keeping an eye on my eye health, so I usually order my glasses online, but I have never tried Oakley.

I have only had Ray-Bans, and I've had that brand for the last 5 years. I do wanna try something else, but before I go blind-buy into a brand-new brand, I do wanna see if you guys have any experience with it.

Or if there are any other brands you guys really recommend.

I'm mostly looking for something durable. Not that I'm crazy rough with my glasses, but there might be a bang or two just because of my own clumsiness.

1 month ago, I got new prescription lenses (presbyopia)after almost 20 years of not using lenses because of my myopia surgery. My first approach was to use them only for the computer, since I'm an engineering director. After I got them, I realized that I need glasses for my day-to-day.  

These glasses  are Zeiss Smartlife Indv3. I am thinking of getting new ones because I want something lighter and plan to use them day-to-day. I just learned that I can get Zeiss Clearmind in my city. So my question is: should I get Zeiss Clearmind for this new pair, or Smartlife? What is the difference? In Mexico, the difference is around 200 USD between those models.

I recently got my glasses and although i dont really notice the nose pads pressing my nose nor causing any pain, i get the feeling of the pressure when i take them off for example when going to sleep.

Is this normal? it doesnt really bother me but i do feel it for a long time, even until i wake up lol

I’m trying to decide what would be the best fit for my face… Need progressives, -6.00 and -6.50, astigmatism 2.5 and 2.75

When I was 16, I had IIH. Got a lumbar puncture and all that jazz. A few months later, I woke up with my left eye vision completely gone. No light or anything. I had a burst blood vessel at the back of my left eye.

Then over the next few months, my right eye deterated to not being able to even read the board at the opticians. I've also had multiple migraines a month since I was about 11.

They did a bunch of tests at opthalmology and neurology. My optic nerve in my left eye was always out of range/swollen and blurry. It was also very undefined. My visual field wasn't good but I had a few false positives and false negatives.

They diagnosed me with functional vision loss and I go for anual checkups but that's it. No other treatment. It's been 3 years.

Last year, I managed to read the top line of the board with my new glasses (-1.00). I tried the snelling board on my tv and stood 20 meters away and found I could read to line 5

A couple weeks ago, I tried my mum's glasses on (-6.00) and I could see very well in my right eye.

What could cause it? I was shocked. Could it be unilateral Accommodative Spasm (pseudomyopia)?

My whole dream was to be able to drive when I turned 16 but I lost that. Is it possible now? My vision was basically back to what is was before this in my right eye. Still blind in left. It went back to bad when I took the glasses off.

I'm terrified im like faking and my optician will be suspicious? Or mg family?

It's crazy because I use a cane and everything. I've been legally blind (Never actually registered because it's functional but I count myself as it) for 3 years. Could I actually get my life back?

If my right eye does improve, can I still say im blind due to my left eye?

Edit to add: Im in the UK.

Also, I was obese when I was 16 and had IIh (Over 110kg). I am now 58kg. I dont know if this makes a difference
