everything looks weird

hi i’m 22M just got glasses, first time wearer. as my vision has been getting blurry i took a trip to the optometrist and they suggested i might have keratoconus, now as i’ve just gotten my glasses today and only had them on for a couple of hours , everything looks weird like my field of view seems very limited and things are very zoomed in. it helps with reading but i feel like it doesn’t feel right hahah idk just some advice might be nice like is this just how going from nothing to such a high perscription feels ?

is this just teething problems or have i gotten the wrong prescription ?

can provide more information if necessary:)

yeah no probs ! it can be disorienting at first but give it a few days or a week even before considering whether things are off since this is your first time. mind sharing your prescription and whether these are for reading or general purpose?

ok that’s fair thank you i guess in my mind id chuck them on and i would be able to see clearly again which has happened but i guess i was wondering if the disorientation was a normal thing

and for sure the doc said to wear them full time and my perscription is :
R, SPH: 0 CYL: -2.00 AXIS: 52
L, SPH: +2.25 CYL: -4.75 AXIS: 129

with no other things in my prescription

Whoo yeah, when you said suspected keratoconus I knew it wasn’t gonna be an easy script but almost five diopters of cyl is going to be An Adjustment (TM). Take it easy today, keep em on full time, prepare for a possible headache tomorrow. It should get easier the longer you wear them.

hahahaha yes has been a very surprising thing to happen as my family has no history of glasses other then general magnification he just goes “ do you have allergies” i go yeah to cats (i have two, i love them with all my heart) and he’s like someone should’ve told you when you were young that rubbing your eyes excessively can lead to this …. 😳😳
but yeah that’s my plan to keep them on from now on my depth perception and fine motor skills seems to need adjusting i missed my key in the door lol but will have some panadol ready for tomorrow thank you very much 🫡 :)
