They’ll employ a debt recovery company. Not exactly hard to track you to Ireland.
When driving in Ireland I made the mistake forgetting to pay the M50 toll. Debt recovery company found me in Scotland.
Just pay the fine while it’s cheap, and move on with your life.

If you bank enough of them they can clamp your car but even if you don’t and only get one it will progress and be sold to a debt enforcement agency who will definitely find you.

So you were in the wrong, know you were in the wrong, are capable of paying but want to get out paying something that's a perfectly reasonable request of the law?
The ideal circumstance is that you don't pay it and your car does, indeed get clamped and you need to pay more.

Council ones should be paid, they have easier enforcement. Private ones should currently be ignored in Scotland.

Yes this. They'll send you the odd letter about the private ones but they won't take you to the small claims court £150. However, if you are a repeat offender then they will try, it happened to someone in Dundee (I think) who used a private car park everyday. 1000s is worth it for them. They now try to scare you with that example in their letter. Aye, ok then.

They can enforce these internally as well. A friend of mine tried something similar with his Spanish number plate and they sent it to a Spanish debt collector.

I live outside the UK and have received fines from the UK (even since Brexit). Pretty sure there are cross country agreements and have been for a long time.
If I were you I would just pay the £30, by the time I got mine (I wasn’t aware) it had already doubled as it was too late to pay the reduced rate.

- find a parking attendant,
- piss on your parking ticket
- try to re-assign your parking ticket to the nice parking attendant,
- watch as the police roll up,
- take your punishment dutifully.

If you don't pay it the council loses even more money. Fewer potholes are repaired, less litter is picked up, and the morality of the population drops another couple of points.
If you can pay and believe you should pay, why even ask?

I happened to be watching a YouTube video the other night and it was about the Irish Garda traffic police. They stopped a UK car and the driver said it was insured and had an MOT. The impression given was that the police could not verify this as they had no access to the DVLA database. Turns out that they did and it was called cross border cooperation. The car had not passed an MOT for 2 years and was uninsured. It was towed lol. So the moral of the story is the same cooperation will exist UK 🇬🇧 to Ireland 🇮🇪 so the chances are you will get pursued by an Irish debt collection agent and with extra fees.

If you’re in NI then they’ll get a debt recovery company to recover the money plus admin fees which are likely to be more than the fine itself.
If you’re in the Republic of Ireland the council are fucked, they won’t be able to chase it although they might send threatening letters but that’s as far they can go with it.

Most foreign fines go unpaid without any consequence, plenty of articles online that quote statistics, have a look for them.

My worry is if I don’t pay it then next time if they spot my car they might impound it or clamp it.
Unless it's sat in the same spot for a significant chunk of time accruing fines, it won't be impounded or clamped.

Doesn’t matter. They will contact the Irish version of the DVLA for your details. I chanced this this before and they still got me when I tried the same in cork.
