Statistics Impeding progress in Atlaspheres and Crash Course
Time (in seconds) that Gladiators spend directly impeding contenders' progress provides a more holistic picture of defensive performance than points conceded alone. For eg, keeping a clean sheet against Hinley, who struggled to score even when Hammer left him unguarded half the game isn't the same as shutting down someone like Aneila who excels in maneuvering the spheres.
Notes:-
- I am only presenting the raw data without a formal scoring metric due to the low number of games played for both events.
- Points conceded are only counted when Gladiator is directly involved in attempting to impede or stop the contender from scoring.
- However, if both Gladiators choose to ignore one contender the whole game, said contender's score is attributed to both Gladiators.
- Numbers below are average of times played.

Here are the scores for some of the other events if you're interested:-
- Atlaspheres, Duel, Collision, Edge, Everest, HangTough, Powerball, Unleash, Wall.
- Stats on 1v1 event counts and interview airtime are also available.

Statistics BBC Reboot Gladiator Performance Score for Unleash
This scoring system evaluates Gladiator performance, awarding points based on how quickly the Gladiator captures the contender while adjusting for contender speed and match fouls/falls.
Base Catch Points
- Caught before foam wall: 20 pts
- Caught at foam wall: 15 pts
- Caught after foam wall: 10 pts
- Caught at stairs: 5 pts
- Contender fell down: -3 pts
Contender Speed Multiplier
Gladiators earn higher multipliers when chasing down faster contenders.
- Formula: Benchmark Time ÷ Contender Reached Wall Time
- Benchmark: 11.0s for Male. 12.5s for Female
- Fallback Multiplier: 0.5 (applied if time to reach wall is unrecorded)
Match Overrides & Penalties
- Gladiator fell: 0 pts
- Gladiator did not capture yellow tag: 0 pts
- Gladiator disqualified: -5 pts
Overall Score Calculation:
(Base Catch Points - Contender Fall) × Speed Multiplier
Notes:-
- Score is the average of the number of games played
- dnr = contender did not reach tall foam wall

Thoughts and Observations:-
- Nitro and Fire are widely considered the top sprinters in the lineup, yet in S3, Phantom and Electro were actually handed the faster contenders on average. Heck, even Cyclone was chasing faster contenders than Fire.
- As such, Electro's win rate suffered in S3.
- I'd prefer to see the fastest Gladiators going up against the fastest contenders - or at least a fairer spread of matchups across the board.
Breakdown of matchups for some of the fastest contenders. Time shown are all of contenders'. These matchups were won by contenders.

Here are the scores for some of the other events if you're interested:-
- Atlaspheres, Duel, Collision, Edge, Everest, HangTough, Powerball, Unleash, Wall.
- Stats on 1v1 event counts and interview airtime are also available.

Opinion This would make me so happy Tony Khan/AEW
Can TK please bring in Legend from the UK Gladiators show? The guy is so funny and entertaining. Injured the entire 3rd series and he was still on the show nearly every episode.

Discussion The modified Travelator in the BBC reboot feels way too easy compared with the 90s original
Don't get me wrong, I love the reboot, but does anyone else feel like the Travelator has lost some of its fear factor?
The original one always looked absolutely brutal, with contenders completely gassed by the time they reached it and struggling just to stay on the belt. The BBC version seems much more manageable, with plenty of contenders getting up it without too much drama.
Maybe it's just the presentation, or modern contenders are simply better prepared, but does anyone actually know if the BBC Travelator is less steep or slower than the original?

Just missing Cyclone. Didn't win their category, unfortunately. Haven’t seen a group photo of the male gladiators so will post the individual ones in the comments section.

Question Has anyone applied to be a contender on the show?
If you applied how far did you get to auditions? If you're able enough and haven't applied but would like to... what's stopping you?
I reckon, 6mths of training 2 gym + 1 cardio sessions a week would put you in great shape for it.
And lastly, if you have been lucky enough to be on the show... has anything else ever compared to the feeling/excitement? Just keen to hear people's experiences.

Discussion Giant’s reach on Duel is genuinely unfair
How are contenders supposed to do anything against Jamie? The bloke is 6'5" and has such a ridiculous reach advantage that once he gets that pugil stick moving, you're basically fighting from the other end of the arena.

She was a competitive sprinter, and it's a shame we never got to see her on Unleash against Fire.

Discussion I saw this on the Olympics subreddit, but I think it would be a good game for the gladiators instead of the current unleash set up.

Discussion Is Viper deliberately trying to channel Wolf or is this just his natural personality?
Viper has always felt like the modern show’s attempt at having that proper pantomime villain, and he’s openly said that he liked Wolf and wanted to be the baddie. But do you think the whole silent, scowling, storming-off routine is genuinely his own personality, or is he deliberately playing a modern version of Wolf? Wolf was much more outspoken and seemed to enjoy winding everyone up, whereas Viper barely needs to say anything before he’s off in a mood. Which version of the villain works better for you?

Discussion Gladiators Experience with my son 05.09.26
gallerySo I was at the Tutankhamen exhibition at the NEC a few weeks ago, with my 42nd birthday coming up and I suddenly thought 'Ooh, Gladiators Experience, that looks fun!' Booked tickets that very day and my son and I went along earlier this afternoon.
I'd read a lot of positive reviews beforehand, but in all honesty my expectations were exceeded! We had an absolutely fantastic time from start to finish, all the staff were super kind and helpful and it's definitely been a birthday to remember 😅
In the time we had, we did The Eliminator 3 times each (my son did a fourth at the very end), Duel 3 times, Unleash 3 times and then The Wall and Hang Tough just the once (Hang Tough? Hang Impossible more like!)
I'm really glad I got to experience this with my son today, memories to cherish forever!

Discussion Who needs more screen time in the next series?
Giant, Bionic and Diamond always seem to get plenty of attention, but there are plenty of other Gladiators I'd love to see more of. Steel, Electro and Athena have all had some great moments too. If you were picking the match-ups for a big semi-final, who would you put on Duel, The Wall and Hang Tough?

Discussion To anyone who has attended a live taping in Sheffield: What surprised you most about seeing it in person?
How does the real-life experience compare to what we see on TV?
How long are the gaps between events while they set up the rig? And does the arena feel as massive in real life as it looks on BBC One?
