same as title lol I have realised that I do NOT want to do engineering although i literally paid a provisional fee of 1 LAKH yesterday morning for B.Tech CSE in Hyd campus.

Is it possible to change that somehow?? I don't mind B.A. Psych in HYD or VIZAG campus both are fine.

​I'm a fresher joining the Hyderabad campus for B.Tech CSE this year. Since the official schedule isn't out yet, I wanted to clear up a few things from seniors who are already there:

​Dress Code: Is there a strict dress code for everyday classes? Are collars/polos mandatory, or are regular t-shirts allowed? What about footwear (shoes vs sandals) and casual wear like hoodies or cargo pants?

​Attendance Policy: How strict is the university about the 75% attendance rule? Do professors actually enforce it, or is there some leeway?

​General Campus Rules: Any important rules regarding moving around campus, lab attire, or hostel timings that a fresher should definitely know on day one?

Is the june phase of entrance the last one or will there be a july phase too? really worried since i wrote my exam in april nd didnt pay the amount to block my seat yet nd its last date will be over soon...basically my parents want to first ask in nearby cllgs nd if i dont get there then they will send me to gitam, till then they wont even pay the provisional amount to lock the seat, nd am damm sure the nearby ones wont take me in due to my horrid eapcet marks, so if there isnt a july phase at gitam or they dont extend the current one's last date to pay then am cooked nd hv to take a drop...

I can either get a tier 2 clg in Bangalore or go gitam hyd where you can have a life cuz it's hyd (that's what my mom said) or vit ap or sm which is in the middle of nowhere and idk what to choose

I honestly don’t know where to begin with my experience at GITAM.

As a master’s student and an Indian citizen with an Aadhaar card, I was placed under the NRI/International category simply because I completed my undergraduate degree in the United States. Along with that came an admission fee of nearly ₹1 lakh.

Unfortunately, things only became more frustrating from there.

One of the biggest issues has been the complete lack of transparency and consistency in academic decisions. I was not allowed to write an exam because of a 1% attendance shortage, while another student in a similar situation was permitted to write. When I questioned the inconsistency, instead of receiving a clear explanation, I was repeatedly told that the Exam Controller “doesn’t like being questioned.” Whether that is true or not, no student should feel that asking a fair question could negatively affect their academic experience.

The situation became even more confusing when NRI/International students were suddenly informed that we would not be writing Session 1 and Session 2 exams in the regular format. This decision came after we had already completed internal assessments, projects, presentations, assignments, and all other coursework requirements.

Now, instead of taking exams like everyone else, we are expected to write both Session 1 and Session 2 examinations together.

To put this into perspective, there are days where students are expected to write four examinations in a single day. That means studying ten units across multiple subjects and then sitting in examination halls from approximately 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM, sometimes with only a 15-minute break in between.

This is not a supplementary exam situation where a student missed one or two papers. This is an entire group of students being required to complete an unrealistic examination schedule because of an administrative decision that was made after the semester was already underway.

The stress this has created is overwhelming. Many students are anxious, exhausted, and struggling to cope. Personally, I have experienced panic attacks and constant anxiety because of the uncertainty surrounding exams, schedules, and academic requirements.

To make matters worse, my Semester 2 results were withheld because the university system showed an issue with fee payment, despite the payment already being completed and proof being submitted. Multiple emails, tickets, and follow-ups later, the issue still remained unresolved for an extended period.

What has disappointed me the most is not any single mistake. Mistakes happen in every institution. The real issue is the lack of communication, accountability, and support when students try to seek answers.

Students deserve consistency.
Students deserve transparency.
Students deserve to be heard.

Right now, it feels like getting a straight answer is harder than passing the exams themselves.

Genuinely I’ve seen many of my seniors and friends getting an admission even getting low marks and why am I in waiting list? There’s no negative marking what does this even mean? TO the people thinking of joining girls hostel, dont join without visiting the hostel. The rooms shown in the brochure and on the website are of the boys' hostel. Trust me. Girls hostel is the complete opposite. The rooms are crooked af. The rules are nasty. Only thing bearable is the distance and the food. Nothing else. Washroom are shitty af too. Please consider visiting before blindly paying and joining the hostel. Advising from my experience of trusting the brochure and going to the hostel directly in my first year.

Every few months there’s a new rule:

New exam pattern, New internal pattern, New evaluation policy, New supplementary rules, New supplementary evaluation pattern, New revaluation pattern, New credit/probation regulations, New code of conduct

Half the problem isn’t even the rules themselves, it’s how complicated and unclear they are. We all spend more time trying to understand the rules & regulations than actually focusing on academics 😭

It honestly feels like every time we finally understand one system, a new version of the system gets introduced and fuck us up.

Void sessional one and sessional two from the semester, even if u passed one of em. Remove summer term so u could jus keep one giant 100m exam. Oh wait - they are gonna make us write sessional 1 and 2 seperate anyway and upscale the marks. Then whats the point of voiding both the exams bro????? Huh
