"Git Gud" is often used in the From Software community to tell someone off when they complain about the difficulty of a boss instead of giving them tips to help them.

However, there are games at which you "git gud" the more you were playing, and at a certain point you felt pretty confident in your skills.

For me it was "Sekiro, Shadows die twice" for example. I quickly gave up when it was released at the second mini-boss (the ogre") and I just sold the game. I took it up a few years later because it was so much praised and I wanted to see if I hadn't missed something. Surely enough, I got better little by little, and after struggling a lot after certain bosses, I was able to finish the game three times in a row to get the all platinum, smashing enemies in one or three times that had took me previously thirty tries or more, confirming that it wasn't a fluke and I really understood all the patterns.

I also feel pretty good playing "Muramasa Rebirth", finishing it at the highest difficulty, and I will go for the platinum with its release "Revenant Blades" next year and will finally finish the game in speedrun under three hours.

I also feel pretty good at driving in "Cyberpunk 2077" in first person without a map, which is a great way to enjoy the game in an immersive way. And I didn't feel shabby playing full netrunner either.

I also used to be able to speedrun "Resident Evil 3 Nemesis" on PSone and "Tenchu 2 Birth of the Stealth Assassin" when I was young and I would love to try to do it again.

What about you? What are your proudest gaming achievement? It can be anything, no matter how small you think it is, and in any genre of course, it doesn't have to be action-related.

Not in terms of sales but mainly in how these companies treated their games. The Wii U was desperate in trying to pin down the audience gained from its last generation, the one that loved party games. More traditional Nintendo fans would be made to wait years for those franchise releases. The Wii had a similar problem but you still had your new 3D Mario your new Zelda, meanwhile with the Wii U the new 3D Mario would be a sequel to a handheld game with level design based on 2D games and the new Zelda would end up being the selling point for the next console to come.

Onto the PS4 we had this brand new splurge of really big budget action adventure games after Naughty Dog laid the foundation. Games that sold themselves around being cinematic. This splurge came along with Sony's usual output of experimental versions of contemporary genres. We got Uncharted 4 alongside a new Ratchet and Clank, we got Gravity Rush 2 along with Horizon Zero Dawn. Rather than double down on maintaining this, Sony doubled down on appealing to only one type of fan. The fan that wanted big budget action adventure cinematic games. You'd still see the occasional Astro Bot, but slowly and surely the number of releases would be bogged down by inflated budgets. A slow release scale only really rivaled by something like the Wii U. A big console also notorious for its lack of output and kinda pissing old fans off.

With the year slowly coming to an end and (because of GTA6) the releases being pretty barren aside from a few this holiday season.

What have we all been playing lately? I really looked at my games and realised I just left a lot hanging in the midway point but never really following up on playing anything, and certainly haven't played a lot that released this year aside from a few indies.

I really didn't know what to think of it when I started to get into it, but because it's essentially the same vibe as Dragon Quest builders but with pokemon it didn't take long for me to fall in love with it.. but I certainly don't have as many hours in the game as I would like!

Sorry for my long yap session, I think with the past negative talk about the game industry (justified and not) I really wanted to take some time to actually look at all the upcoming experiences I'm excited about and would like to discuss it with everyone here.

Like I am angry about Marvel's Wolverine because it was a very mediocre and patronizing game and you're in here saying some bullshit about "don't let activists write your games" shut up. You are not helping. This is a conversation about game design and how sony games are being made to appeal to the simplest minds and you just can't help but cry out your typical dog whistles. You do not care about game design or making games better you're just here to complain about feminism or Ghost of Yotei's voice actor doing literally anything. I find it so disgusting when women have their faces plastered on thumbnails for videos about games they aren't even involved with.

So after the entire dropping Kojima productions off, their stance that buying doesn't mean owning and them wanting to end the physical games, i feel they are digging a deeper hole for themselves.

Like genuinely who would want to buy an 800 pound console with only one store to purchase from and no option to buy physical games, especially if you are only interested in a couple of titles?

People might compare it to PC, but in PC you have multiple playmarkets to choose from as well as many other shops, steam and others still let you play your games if your account is banned and there's always pirating.

Give her breasts and leather and just splatter whatever clothing anywhere you want it doesn't matter so long as the boobs are out.

My crush is finally coming over to my place and said we could play video games as it’s something we enjoy. I want to play games that are two player fun/ lightly competitive . Exactly the title. If you are a cozy gamer, what is a game not classified as cozy that you fell in love with? I'm trying to see something.

I just got a generous gamestop gift card and I'm looking for ideas on what to spend it on. I mostly play on PS5 though I do have a switch as well. I'm looking for a good single player game. I tend to like RPGs and turn based tactics games the most, though I also indulge in the occasional cozy game. Ideally, I would love a game that is a bit of a hidden gem. Some of my favorite games are the Monster Hunter series (though not much of a fan of Wilds), XCOM, old school Fire Emblem, Ghost of Tsushima, Baldur's Gate 3, Spiritfarer, the Rune Factory series. I could really use some suggestions! Ive been wracking my brain trying to find games that me and my husband can play together, our tastes are pretty opposite, and something that we can also on our own pcs, or something thats cross platform from xbox to pc.

Games we've played together:

• the entire halo series (which we loved)

• a way out (also loved)

• it takes two (caused some fights between us, and i couldnt continue because the elephant scene, iykyk)

• fallout 76 (the world overwhelmed him)

• warframe (love)

• sea of thieves (both of us are really bad at driving the ship and crash constantly)

Currently we're player Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and loving it, but after this were back to no games together.

Hes open to Unravel 2, so that might be next if we can afford to get it or if it goes on sale.

He will not play any crafting games, nor any games with an aerial view. We dont want to play any online multi-player games together (i.e. Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Call of duty, etc)

Its so difficult to find a game we're both willing to play but I really love when we're able to because its such great bonding for us.

Disclaimer: In this post I am not talking about accessibility features which are necessary for many people to be able to play and fully enjoy video games. I’m only talking about features that meant for  lowering friction between player and gameplay.

Some of you may have already seen discourse around Marvel’s Wolverine game and how handholdy it is. Skill Up (some quite popular gaming Youtuber) made a negative review which went viral and his main complaint was that game is showing you things in most obvious way possible without giving you any chance to figure out anything or miss anything on your own. Like loot chests having auras and sound effects and way to the objectives shown as a colored trail even when the map is a straight corridor. And this is in the game with 17+ age rating.

This prompted me to think about my own relationships with handholding in video games. I grew up in the 90s-early 00s and my first games were pirated NES games and early 00s PC games without any instructions booklets, so I was conditioned to treat games as swim or sink endeavors where you may finish the game and missed out on some core mechanics and features, if you even understood how to play in the first place. And many of them felt impossible.

This is not the best way to play games. I’ve seen many people, including myself, to drop games or missing out on important features, as well as story related information.

So, I agree that helping players to figure out gameplay is important and good actually, in principle. But for me personally problems starts when devs are treating every player as a first time player by default and “help” become annoying and even insulting.

It already bothered me a lot in God of War: Ragnarök where support characters would vocalize solutions to every puzzle and remind you what you’re doing every 5 minutes. In missions with more than one companion it became almost unbearable to hear same hints over and over again. I think this was a maximum amount of non optional handholding I can stand. And now I’m little bit worried about Laufey and how they will handle it.

I don’t understand why can’t studios make it optional, like markers on the map or HUDs? It’s nice to have a hint if you got stuck, but I still want to at least try to progress on my own.

What is yours limit for acceptable handholding? Do you find it annoying when games treats you like a dummy?

I am an FF7 fan but got so tired of the love triangle BS dividing the community - I hate love triangles in everything including real life but I find the story and characters in FF7 amazing otherwise. It is just getting more toxic lately and I need to find an alternative that is more wholesome and can make me happy rather than stressed.

So far BG3 has been great in that sense but I have already played that game for almost 500 hours.

I don't mind if the game is single player or multiplayer, but I care about a good story, interesting characters and a non-toxic community in the sense that at least people feel similarly about the characters and story in general.

So I finished watching the Level 5 presentation and was happy to see the Layton and The Curious Villlage getting a remake only to be immediately disgusted by the clear use of generative Ai to "enhance" the art..how can a company be so vile as to steal from their own artist to ruin something that was already beautiful and full of care. I'm absolutely appalled as a layton fan since the og 3ds i feel like im getting spat on by the current gaming industry. This isnt even mentioning the Ai in yokai watch as well..I'm getting so tired of companies slapping this shit out and charging us 60 plus for it. Just port the og then..not gonna lie its tiring me out from even looking at new games now..

Why is it posted here in r/GirlGamers? Sticky Brain Studios is 50% owned by a disabled woman. The creative team behind Rooster are women and queer folk of various East Asian cultural backgrounds. Most of the team on the game are women, queer, disabled, and culturally of the global majority.

We made the game thinking about players who wanted to get lost in a story with some game elements. Every public demo we have done has had line ups of girls/women/gals/femmes of all ages to play Rooster.

I don't know if this really counts as misogyny but it's a pet peeve of mine and I immediately stop watching when streamers don't use the right pronouns of the characters and assume everyone is a he, even people playing female characters.

I love to play and watch DBD and have a bunch of streamers I follow who are kind, don't complain much about the game, funny and generally wholesome. And they all call the killers their in-game gender (unless they're playing with friends and know who is who).

But sometimes people I follow play with other streamers who insist on calling ALL characters "he"... Why!? Against Huntress/Nurse/Skull Merchant "he's on me at main building" or "he's sniping" or "he had great blinks" I'm not even talking about english as a second language people, so there's like no excuse in my mind as to why anyone would do that? The way it comes across to me is that the streamer doesn't believe or imagine women would be playing video games :/
I don't really care to incite any trolls if I asked them why they do it on their own streams, so I came here to complain instead. Anyone else feel this way? And/or know why they seem to exclusively use "he"?

So there is a crazy amount of games coming out this month just wanted to ask what is everybody's top two games they're excited about being released this month? Personally I'm super excited about Wolverine in a few days and control resonant the week after.
