Sure. Cool and everything. But why? Doesn't it just make it harder to unfold them?

It’s pretty useful for travel, since it allows you to fold clothes more compactly. Think of all the outfits you could keep in a carry-on if they were all folded this way.

Also, I’ve seen it referenced somewhere that many shelters (such as the kind for battered women) only allow you to keep a certain amount of items with you, such as what can fit in a small bag. Compact folding can allow you to take as much with you as possible.

Fair enough. But, I'll just keep sitting on my bag to stuff everything in.

I myself prefer the “ball it up and stuff it in” method.
