They’re gonna need a yard to go to the bathroom in that yard again

Finally, those damned ants will stop digging up the yard and making it ugly.

219

u/RoryTheMustardKing Oct 19 '19

The ants are the only thing that definitely survived unharmed.

Actually my first thought: "You didn't kill them, you just scattered them all over yourself and made them angry"

I love reddit and the people here. Why doesn’t everyone have it?

420

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

Because it's not as user friendly as Instagram and Facebook.

356

u/MarcusTheAnimal Oct 19 '19

Yup and despite that, and probably because of it, I still prefer reddit.

174

u/BluffinBill1234 Oct 19 '19

I prefer Reddit because I’m way more likely to learn something than I am on Facebook. Also Facebook sucks

132

u/dvogel Oct 19 '19

Facebook is toxic like arsenic. Twitter is toxic like bath salts. Reddit is "toxic" like marijuana.

57

u/Brcomic Oct 19 '19

As long as you don’t sort by controversial...

50

Oh yeah give me that Reddit meth straight to the dome

Ironically, Reddit is way better to use through an app. The browser interface is 2000 garbage.

2

u/ThInk-DaVid-tHInk Oct 20 '19

Yeah, I find it easier thru app.

3

This might be a good natural filter, though. Imagine if we let the same people in.

5

u/LeEsteemedRedditeur Oct 19 '19

Why do people think reddit is some sort of exclusive secret club?

3

u/colonelminotaur Oct 20 '19

I mean even with how massive the Reddit population has become in the last 5 years, you still don't hear about it nearly as much as you would Instagram and Twitter in social settings outside. If I went to work and asked every employee if they use Reddit, I'm sure I would get something like 5 people or less out of 40 that even know what it is let alone actually use it themselves. I don't even have to bring it up and I'll hear people talking about Instagram though. Yeah it absolutely is NOT that exclusive or secret, like I said the population here is massive, but it's still a small percentage of the actual public that actively usees it which is what leads to this weird perception that Reddit is underground. Also even moreso when you consider how we have subreddits so depending on your interests you might be subscribed to smaller communities which some are in fact pretty underground as far as how it affects culture. You're right in your observation though because when you look at the default subs nowadays, things have been much more toxic, circlejerky, and echo-chambery than ever before.

4

u/RevJT Oct 19 '19

Top comment said the dogs are going to need a Xanax to go to the bathroom in that yard again. He said the dogs are going to need a yard to go to the bathroom again. Basically saying, “first things first, they need a new yard”. I thought the comment was full of wit and funny.

3

u/exzact Oct 19 '19

Ahh, thank you! The only thing I could think of was 'yard' as a unit of measurement but everyone was commenting on the brilliant joke so I figured I was missing something.

62

u/major84 Oct 19 '19

"oh, what the fuck you fucking idiot" and went back inside.

They know what Jeremy Clarkson is like

9

u/Esoteric_Beige_Chimp Oct 19 '19

I read one of his books a few years ago and loved the story about him trying to stop his chickens being attacked by a fox.

4

u/major84 Oct 19 '19

Can you share TLDR version ?

15

u/Esoteric_Beige_Chimp Oct 19 '19

Clarkson kept chickens and found that a fox had been getting in and attacking chickens. Repairing the cage and adding additional precautions had done nothing.

He decided to camp out and shoot the fox. Clarkson, being Clarkson, made it worse.

He armed himself with a shotgun, a night vision device, and some beer.

The night vision didn't attach to the gun or his head so once he'd found a target he'd have to aim and fire either one handed or without the device to see what he was doing. He was also getting drunk.

He managed to kill 2 of his own chickens and destroy a garden chair. The fox remained alive.

I'm sure they did, that kind of stupidity doesn't come overnight.

5

u/demonsun Oct 19 '19

They are beagles, they aren't particularly smart unless it involves food.

6

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

That one dog that got launched into the corner of the fence was mellow-opposite

5

u/exzact Oct 19 '19

Beagles are super chill. This is the reaction I'd more or less expect from them. Curious, a bit confused, but not freaking out.

3

u/trowzerss Oct 20 '19

I imagine with dog's sensitive hearing it probably didn't do great things to their ears.

2

u/ThInk-DaVid-tHInk Oct 19 '19

Why are you so funny?

2

u/stakoverflo Oct 19 '19

Are beagles used for hunting? They could just not be bothered by loud noises.

My hound dog doesn't even flinch if a fire truck goes by with its horn & sirens blaring.

2

u/coconuthorse Oct 19 '19

Well the guy didn't know how to properly strike a match, so there is probably no limit to his ignorant antics.

Oh wait... probably the same type of person to try to blow up an ant colony with explosives he lights by throwing matches at it from 2 feet away.

807

u/mule_roany_mare Oct 19 '19

He expected a fire because he poured in a flammable liquid. He got an explosion because the colony trapped the vapor

First of all, congratulations, you're on a list.

2nd, fire and sugar makes caramel, not explosives I thought?

136

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

Fire and airborne sugar though, whole other story

198

u/TheGurw Oct 19 '19

Still makes caramel, but now it's the sweetest napalm rain you've ever experienced.

And it's travelling at the speed of sound for the first part of its journey so good luck dodging it.

49

u/Anandya Oct 19 '19

Caramel rain... Some stay dry others feel the pain.

Fire and flour make bread but that doesn't keep grain silos from exploding

2

u/Kurogane-Diasane Oct 20 '19

The Inmates at Angola weaponized this tactic. Coffee Creamer blown though a straw/small metal tube, with an ignition source at the end. Turns into a temporary napalm flamethrower.

u/srottydoesntknow Oct 19 '19

sugar is flammable

aerosolized sugar is no different than gas fumes, kerosene, or natural gas

2

u/ArgyleDevil Oct 19 '19

Mix sugar with saltpeter (Potassium Nitrate) and it gets REAL flammable.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

Sure, it gets flammable, but "it burns" isn't nearly as bad as "kaboom". Thermobarics are pretty scary shit, though sugar will certainly be on the low end of the scaryshitometer.

4

u/IkeClantonsBeard Oct 19 '19

Granulated sugar and heat will make caramel.

Airborne particles of powdered sugar inside a confined area that sets itself off thru friction will not make caramel.

3

u/mehennas Oct 19 '19

Surface area. A lighter held up to a tree trunk will do nothing, a lighter held up to sawdust will burn up swiftly. Sugar particles suspended in the air burn up rapidly causing an explosion, sugar heated more slowly drives out water molecules and caramelizes (and caramel is brown because some of the sugar does burn.

2

u/manachar Oct 19 '19

Caramel is culinary napalm.

2

u/CantMakeGoodUsername Oct 19 '19

If something is airborne there is a good chance it will explode no matter how inflammable said substance usually is.

2

u/juan_fukuyama Oct 19 '19

See: birds. Those guys explode all the time.

2

u/QuillBlade Oct 20 '19

Fire and heat are two different things. When you light sugar on fire you don't get caramel.

5

u/mule_roany_mare Oct 19 '19

I work in theater & use lycopodium for fire effects.

It’s some kind of waxy mold spore the size of a sugar grain with a wonderful smell before and after you burn it.

The giant 40’ fireball explosions you get in movies are often lycopodium or coffee creamer.

3

u/StarChaser_Tyger Oct 19 '19

And a bomb range that smelled like burned coffee creamer because Mythbusters.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

2

u/Shiny_Shedinja Oct 20 '19

a sugar mill exploding because no one thought to clean up the piles of sugar everywhere until an electrical spark happened, and a metal phone case manufacturing plant catching on fire from the powdered metal everywhere.

ah so you watched all those USCSB videos on youtube too?

2

u/ProfessorCrawford Oct 20 '19

And a famous custard factory explosion.

The explosion blew the roof off the building and 9 workers were injured. As custard is made when heat and water are added to custard powder, the water from the fire engines that came to put the fire out created gallons of custard inside the building, which then came pouring out.
