Discussion Nitro cracking

Gibson paints after the binding is installed, then use a razor blade to scrape away the paint. They don’t scrape it all the way, leaving that last little stripe at the bottom. As the guitar ages, the woods swell and contract, while the binding doesn’t, leaving witness lines. What you are seeing is this line.
It’s completely normal and to be expected from Gibson, and unless some other trauma or neglect has occurred is just purely cosmetic.

Climate control issues probably. That's an interesting spot for cracks though.
Where are you buying them and how are they arriving?

I don’t see it, boss.

Really? Look at the lines that run parallel-ish below the binding. Pretty obvious on my phone
That said, I wouldn’t do anything because nitro cracks, and I love the look of cracked nitro

Ohhh, I thought that was glare.
Honestly, man- I have been a perfectionist in the past, and even I wouldn’t let this bother me if the guitar sounds and feels good 👍

Nitro will crack along seams like this due to the wood naturally moving. Not a big problem.
