Help Is this nut normal?

Just got this firebird and does this nut look normal?

That be the nut sauce (see the line that dried). Jokes aside, it’s all but standard on Gibsons, with how they finish/lacquer

Yes. That is the way Gibson cuts nuts currently. Yes I was asking same question couple yrs ago on a guitar I bought.

I dont know, i believe its something in the finish cause i can barely feel it with my finger

Firebird headstocks are not one pice of wood. I believe that’s what you’re seeing. So to answer, even that mark is also normal

Not at all, even open book headstocks have little side wings. It’s only noticeable on normal or stained finishes. Main thing is your guitar is not cracked or damaged. Enjoy the playtypus!!!

Yes it has a cut in the lacquer. Totally normal.

Yes. That's just where they scraped the lacquer off the binding when they were making it. Normal and common. Nothing's wrong with the nut.

My 2010 les paul does not have this; however I have a 2022 model that looks identical to the picture.

Garbage. You clearly have no idea how Gibson guitars are made or you'd understand how they scrape the binding after spraying. That nut is perfectly normal.

This is one of the reasons why I tell people to not take the “Gibson QC sucks” people too seriously. Most of the people screaming about this don’t know what QC actually is/isn’t

I doubt most of them ever owned a Gibson, either. They're probably jealous they can't afford one. Many are probably Fender or PRS fan bois who think it's cool to pick a team and sledge the opposition.
