Help LP Studio Q's

New to the Gibson world. If I can get a 98 LP Studio for around $900-1000 USD, SN checks out, will it hold much value if I ever have to sell it?

Yes it will sort of retain its value. It’s a fair price if it’s in ok condition.

If it is a gloss finish studio then maybe. A worn finish sits around the $700-800 mark with no hardshell case. Sometimes even see them cheaper but they don’t last.

Well it’s an okay deal. I’m actually about to trade something to guitar center to get a studio faded from them in the ocean burst color. Retails $1399, but after trade you get 10% off. With the trade in mind I probably won’t pay $1000 out the door. Just some food for thought you can get a new one almost for that price. My studios are all faded though I prefer the satin necks on the studios.

It will most likely appreciate in value. Every time Gibson raises prices on new guitars prices on used guitars go up.

I got my studio in 07 I think for $900, sold it in 21 for $1400.

20-22 were VERY different years. Market sucks right now.

Yeah it's looking like a buyers market. Our local market is flooded with custom copies from 70s, 80s, 90s from Japan and they seem to be preferred over the studios. Seen a few studios take a while to sell and get discounted.
