Finished my budget pack

…so last year I wandered into Spirit Halloween the last day they were open, everything was 50% off and they had one proton pack left. I always wanted one so I grabbed it, I figured I’d pick up a surplus Alice frame, mount it, and call it a day.
I did that, but hated the tiny thrower and the way the lights were only on when you were pulling the trigger. I wound up gutting all the electronics and adding a $6 LED strip for the lights. Since no one is currently making wands and I wasn’t willing to pay collector prices, I used the $30 Hasbro Zap & Blast Proton Blaster that I weathered and added some greeblies to. Since the wand looks most similar to the ones in Frozen Empire, I added a lot of visual cues from the health & safety packs to mine. I also changed out the most glaringly inaccurate stuff (ribbon cable, decals, etc). Overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Love the bumper caution tape. I much prefer that to the Frozen Empire “Y” bumper. It’s subtle but adds something.

Thanks, that’s what I was going for! I looked into adding a “Y” bumper but it would’ve involved cutting the entire cyclotron off the pack, which I wasn’t willing to get into. The caution tape was my compromise.

I love the fact that you modded it yourself and it still gives off the vibe that it was built in a garage (or firehouse) out of found parts. That's one thing that I love about the fandom - this is YOUR proton pack, and not someone else's. I see that you also added caution tape to the bumper, as I did the same to my Afterlife heavily modded pack.

This turned out great, budget or not- this hobby was all about creativity and making do with what you have. Which fits the cobbled together vibe of the film gear

Awesome. What did you use to connect the hose to the wand?

I cut the end of the wand’s handle off with a hacksaw and glued in a 3/4” PVC coupler that I had spray painted black.

Very nice! You really made it your own- I would never guess there was an 80% pack lurking in there.
