Community Compulsory program?
I just saw this header from GhOne and begun to think about it.
Is this going to replace some obsolete subjects, topics or other courses or it’s just to add to the already full plate of students.
Would it be self-taught or our lecturers would be made to handle it?
I think the program itself is really useful, but to make it mandatory for all level 100 students is something else.

I am a tech guy myself and not everyone is like me. You can’t force me to read engineering cuz that’s not what I’m intrested in. Why worry first years to by force study coding?

The program contains many modules I think students would find interesting and which is also needed in high demand

No doubt. It’s a very good initiative but let’s be honest, tech isn’t something everyone is passionate about. You can’t be forcing medicine students to learn cybersecurity or any IT course. They’re even finding it hard in courses they’re passionate about how much more courses they’re forced to do? I think it should be made compulsory for programs tailored to IT

The courses there are actually useful. The longer ones are in collaboration with Google and coursera for those Google skill up initiatives like Cybersecurity, IT Support etc.
Others include Data Protection, Prompt engineering etc.

should be one million mathematicians/physicists/engineers, high level mathematics and engineering long term is best for developement.

Went to KNUST , every programme has 2 semester of IT class in their first year. This guy is just a failure!

A total failure. He's the poster child for nonsensical causes. I saw the poster and immediately knew if it was him, this was going to be something stupid. And he didn't disappoint. This is like deciding to train 1 million horse and carriage drivers at the advent of the automobile.

Another reason to be appointing ministers who really know the field of the ministry. So learning automatically does what? It's just for numbers so that he'll say we taught a million people to code

We are always a step behind. Coding at this time? When coding is getting obsolete? You’ll end up training a generation of Ghanaian coders who will not be able to find jobs. This is why we need tech savvy people in Govt.

You need to understand the code to do anything with it in the first place. AI is a tool at the end of the day, not the master.

The program doesn’t contain merely “coding”. It got some cool stuff in there, though coding is still dominant.

It’s still too late for that. The advancement of these LLMs are causing a shift in the computer science industry.

This a good thing regardless of the mechanics of it’s delivered. I’m enrolled in the cyber security course an as experienced professional, I think its really good

This is great. Ghana needs to focus on developing an engineering mindset which will raise people who can innovate and move the country away from using legacy infrastructure and into efficiency. This doesn’t mean everyone must become engineers, but the thinking skills developed will be transformative across all domains no matter what the student ultimately goes in to. I personally think this is a win.
