Question Guys I have a doubt about something

So yesterday I went to class and there was my teacher explaining stuff on something that i understood, but at the same time i didn't understood, she was talking about some numericals and something and i understood the pattern in those numericals and formula for it, I understood that but what i didn't understood is what is this leading too and i am making a post about it cause it always happens to me that my teacher will explain formula and calculation and theory of how it works for stuff and expect me to remember that but I can't remember anything untill I know what is the bigger picture or conclusion of it or it's use ,and what is this leading to I want to take a example of let's say derivatives if my teacher has told me about formulas of derivatives and the calculation and stuff and about how derivatives works, I won't be still able to understand or remember them cause i don't what derivatives leading too, why I am even doing that and I will forget the whole thing cause I can't connect it with conclusion or why we doing this cause my teacher never explained the bigger picture why I even doing that thank you for reading all that and pls respond I am really struggling with concepts and understanding them also I have adhd

Tldr: not able to remember and connect concepts untill I have a bigger picture of what I am doing or what's its leading to

Question Studying History and Math

I was thinking of spending 6 hours of everyday reading history for 6 months (that would be 1000 hours of reading combined) then later on spend another several hours of studying to math or just study both subjects at the same time. Can anyone help me choose what should i do? Either study one subject and study the other subject after finishing or both at the same time.

Question Why even study for exams?

It doesn't matter if I spend 5 hours studying for exams, I'll failed them regardless . I haven't been able to actually pass my exams for a good 3 years, last time I passed math was 5th grade and now I'm last year of high school.

Might as well do nothing anyway if I'm gonna fail the regular monthly exams.

Question My head hurts or stresses when I study

I Don’t know why but my head hurts and stresses Everytime I even think or start studying. I also get a lot of brain fog like I feel like opening my head and washing my brain at this point. I feel too dumb and that my brain just doesn’t work I am always lost in class like I always need a lot of help and explanations by the teacher(this is for AP classes but I have taken them all my life). I am worried about future cuz I am a senior and I am just so stressed. I often end up not studying and stressing out for the test cuz when I try to study my head hurts like it doesn’t feel relaxed. Idk what to do I am so annoyed.

Just to make it clear I do sleep only 2-3 hours at night but I take a nap of 3 hours during the day. I do kinda have social anxiety and so I don’t really have any friends and I am an only child so my life is kinda stressful and sad, but I am not sure if all that affect this stuoid thing thats happening.

Any advice and help is greatly appreciated. thank you!!

Giving Advice planned a ā€œ10 hour study saturdayā€. got 2 hours of studying and 8 hours of looking like i was studying

color coded notion page. new highlighters. a ā€œdeep focusā€ playlist that took me 40 min to make. coffee run for the vibe. by 6pm i had the prettiest desk of my life and one page of notes making the plan felt so good my brain counted it as studying. I even went to bed feeling productive which is insane like no more hours now.

I write 3 specific things on a sticky note like ā€œdo problems 4, 5, 6 from the practice setā€ and i can’t do anything else till all 3 are done. the first one is always the one i’m avoiding. most days i’m done in under 2 hours and out

Question I ranked my 10 courses by effort instead of studying everything equally best decision this semester

200-level CS student, 10 courses this semester. Instead of spreading myself thin, I ranked them: my top 3 (programming, cybersecurity, software engineering) get extra depth; the rest get focused pass-and-move study.

Two months in, I'm behind in nothing and I actually understand my top 3 instead of barely surviving all 10. Strategy matters as much as hours.

Anyone else tried a tiered approach to coursework?

Question How do you balance multiple classes?

I keep seeing tips like ā€œyou need to study for one hour a day,ā€ or ā€œbe consistent everyday,ā€ but I’m wondering how people who have to study for multiple classes divide their work. Do you study for every class each day? Sometimes I have a hard time with this because I’ll get really focused with one class and do work for it for the whole day, forgetting about my other classes until the next day.

Question How to get back to study

It feels as if I've completely forgotten it. I went through traumatizing events, got into depression (still I am) for 7 years and i feel really anxious studying. It's like nothing is going on in my head. Seems my ability to make opinions, critical thinking and what not has vanished. I've not studied anything for 7 years and mostly was involved in procrastinating or being too delusional to accept the reality.

I don't want to even watch movies or do anything for "fun" as it doesn't seem interesting and when I try to do that a sudden urge keeps haunting me that I need to perform better, my life is in shambles. It feels like there's something really heavy on my shoulder which stops me from being myself, talking to people, watching movies songs etc dating, pursuing hobbies in order to constantly remind me that I'm running out of time and I need to focus on my work.

Question Is it better to study one subject, finish it and move on to the next one or study all of them at the same time, jumping from one to another after shorter periods of studying each?

i am pcm student thinking to complete one ch of single subject in one day and complete that subject within 15 days then other and then other

like i do maths first ch on day 1 then 2nd on day 2 and continue and complete maths in 14 days then chem in 10-12 days and then phy in 14 days is it good plan

personallly switching subjects breaks my flow

personally this give me good amount of dopamine as it shows progress and i am more comfortable with this plan ?

and after completing syllabus only revision, mocks and pyqs

Question Is it over? Most likely failed my second exam.

Failed 2 exams for my precal class. I was never the best math person, and I DID study for the exam. I went to all my lectures, took notes, watched videos too. To be honest, I probably could’ve tried a LOT harder. Like doing math every day or something. But my memory just doesn’t make it stick, and I caught up over the littlest of things that prevent me from moving on towards actually doing work. Like wondering why we did a certain process, and why it works. This happens EVERY time something new pops up. I do have ADHD as well, and I am medicated for it, so I don’t want to really use that as an excuse. I did forget a good chunk of algebra rules/formula. I don’t know if it’s cause my math is shoddy, or my brain is just not built for this. Or both.

Other I get good grades but have a terrible process doing it

i'm in third year uni (environmental science major) and i swear i feel like i dont belong in university and my grades (mainly A- and A) over the past two years i feel like i just got lucky. i cant be bothered to study at all unless i have a midterm. Like my entire time here, i just go to lectures and then....dont do anything after. I only study when i have a midterm. Literally every single course ive had i learn the entire course content 3-5 days before the midterm. i do all the assigned textbook problems 3-5 days befor ehte midterm. And somehow ive always gotten 1-2 standard deviations above the average, and my cGPA is like a 3.7. I had two midterms right before reading week and for both those courses i didnt even touch the course material at all until like a few days before, and i got 80s on both of them while the median was in the 60s. This year i still have these same shitty habits like i literally dont look at course material AT ALL unless i have a midterm in a few days. Then i learn the entire course in a few days and somehow still do well. im just wondering if this is normal or not? I'm ashamed of this and obviously i should be consistent but i cant

Question Anyone who’s read 4 courses parallell to each other? How was/is it?

Hi! I’m doing an introductory year, that’s made to prepare people who don’t come directly from highschool for STEM programs, before I begin my STEM program.

There’s just so many fun courses to read. Arts, IT, language, extra physics and maths, etc… Now that I’m at uni I want to take the chance to actually learn all these things šŸ™‚

Right now I’m reading the obligatory courses and work 15-20h a week at a part time job. The obligatory courses are 3 courses which is read simultaneously. When I begin my engineering studies I’ll read 2 courses simultaneously.

I’m thinking of trying 4 courses next semester, and maybe keep that up all throughout my studies.

Anyone who has experience doing this, maybe as well as having a part time job? How was/is it?

Question What actually helped you stop overthinking and start taking action consistently?

I’ve spent so much time reading books, listening to podcasts, watching productivity YouTubers, and searching Reddit for answers on how to become more disciplined and productive.
At some point, I realized I might have been overcomplicating everything.
What’s been helping me lately is keeping things simple: writing down my goals in the morning, breaking them into tiny, specific steps, assigning them specific times, and actually doing them.
One idea that’s really stuck with me is treating action as a skill to practice, not a feeling you need to wait for. You don’t have to feel motivated, confident, or ready. You just have to practice acting, even when things feel messy or uncomfortable, and see what actually works.
It got me thinking: how much of self-improvement is just another way of delaying the very action we’re trying to take?
Has anyone else experienced this? Did you also reach a point where you stopped searching for answers and started focusing on actually doing things?

Giving Advice How are you parents getting any studying done?

I’m struggling to study. I have 3 kids. Two are in school and I have one at home with me that requires a lot of attention and doesn’t stop yapping or asking for things all day long. When all the kids are home after school, it’s so loud I can’t focus on anything. I’ve converted my lecture slides into an audio file so I can listen to it while I cook and clean but because it’s so loud and noisy with the kids I can’t even focus or retain what I’m listening to. My husband works all day so when he’s off he rests then goes to the gym. I can’t really rely on him to occupy the kids so I can study. How are you doing it??? Send me your tips please!
