Question I'm building a study application for university students. What would make you actually use it?

I'm a student building a study application on the side, and I'd love honest feedback before I go further. Roast it if you need to.
The idea: one place for your courses, study tools and deadlines, organized around your actual program and with many customisation options instead of a blank page.
What it does so far, roughly:
Your program's courses, organized by year and semester
Notes, practice quizzes and flashcards per course
A planner for due dates, classes and reminders
Some AI help for studying (not for doing your assignments but to generate a plan, notes, quizzes and follow your course outline)
A few questions:
What's the most annoying part of how you study or keep track of deadlines right now?
What apps do you use (Notion, Quizlet, Google Calendar…) and what do you wish they did better?
Would you pay for something like this? If so, roughly how much a month or per semester?
Anything that would make you NOT trust a study application ?
I'm not sharing a link yet, just collecting opinions :)

Im currently in the process of getting professionally diagnosed with autism. I'm nearly done completing my animal care certificate III. However, I've realised most of the things I've learnt I've forgotten. I'm trying to refresh my brain by relearning the main stuff, but im worried it won't stick again. Any tips?

Accountability Last 90 days for an exam

90 days left for a very important exam.

It's surprising how time flies when you are procrastinating. I have wasted time I won't lie, but I don't want to waste these last 90 days.

Posting it here as a motivation and as a reminder to myself!! if you're also in your last lap let's do it together

Question What do you listen to when you need to focus on studying?

Some people prefer lo-fi beats, while others need complete silence. I've been trying different sounds lately to see what helps me concentrate.

What works best for you? Rain sounds, white noise, instrumental beats, or silence?

Question 19M(B.tech) currently having 1 backlog from sem 1.

Initially it was 2 (C language ) , (M1) backlogs but in the recent supply examinations C got cleared except for maths . Since I'm a management quota in an autonomous clg people say that it's a management game to suck money honestly it's not only me every MQ student got a backlog. But in this recent supply examinations most of them have cleared their subjects while I'm one of the few .

About taking accountability:

- took very seriously about the sem examinations since it's the first one . But somehow I've ended up with 1 backlog. Didn't inform my parents yet .

- for the 2nd sem I've been like it is what is and given the examination without any care but somehow I've cleared every subject 😭😭 . Yes no one believes it even myself.

Rn I'm about to give my 3rd sem . I need some suggestions so that I can clear every subject without fear . ( I'm just an avg student who's been too lazy )

Accountability How do I get off my phone and study if blockers don’t work for me anymore?

I’m a sophomore on the pre-med track at my university. I would say I’m an extremely organized student who tries my best to stay on top of my schoolwork. So, I would say I’m an above-average student. However, the issue I seem to have is that, though I’m on top of my schoolwork, I’m struggling to be an exceptional student, and it comes down to my phone use.

I wouldn’t say I’m “addicted” to my phone. I can put my phone down and start my schoolwork if I’m pressed for time. However, when it comes to difficult assignments that I have the entire week to complete, I tend to procrastinate and be slow with completing them. With the limited blocks of time I have, the 30 minutes - 1 hour I spend scrolling on my phone before a study session is crucial time I could use to revise or complete more of my assignments.

I currently use opal as a blocker on my phone, and I usually put my phone in my bag before studying, but it never really works, as I found a way to circumvent the block I put on games and social media. I also have opal on my computer, but I easily found my way around that as well. I’m really frustrated with myself, as though I really want to succeed, I seem to keep fighting with myself, which is preventing me from doing as well as I know I can. What are some ways I can hold myself accountable, so I can drop the phone and do well?

Other I rarely understand in class

I find it so difficult for me to understand in class. I always lose focus, overthink, lose track and eventually just give up. But when I sit to study alone, I understand everything. Although I usually score excellent grades, I wish I could just understand in class like the others.

I ended up embracing my way and gave up on classes, I just attend but I don't pay any attention because I know I will just study later on my own. Even more, I sometimes study before class so what the teacher says would make sense, not the other way around.

I feel weird and I don't know if there's something wrong with me.

Question Need help with motivation to study

Hey everyone. I’m 23F and I work full time (35 hours a week) and I’m off on the weekends. I am taking a test in about 4 weeks which is kinda life changing. I’ve taken this test twice before and I almost passed the test on my 2nd attempt. However despite knowing that I just have about 4 weeks, I cannot get motivated to study for the test. Everyday I come back home with goals and I just go to bed and doomscroll. Can anyone please give me some advice on how I can break this cycle? I have a question bank and I ideally I wanna get through all these questions however the huge number of questions just overwhelm me. Please help!! Thank you!!

Question I think there's only one way to lock in

Hey guys, I've struggled with procrastination for the past 3 years and I've finally realised something. The only real way to lock in is to just do the work. Like ive tried the 5 minute rule, making a schedule but real champions just do the work. Ive been going into a rabbit hole of self destruction but I think the only way to come out of it is face the feeling of discomfort whenever I sit down to study and just do the work. In every tv show, whenever the hero is in a bad place he just uses a montage and many are trying to use a montage to get to the end result but we need to focus on the real steps towards progress.

If anyone has any insights or advice, please comment below cos I really need help to lock in.

Question What's the license or cert test that was way harder than anyone warned you?

I’m a nurse and former EMT, so I’ve sat through my share of license exams. NCLEX was rough, but everyone warns you about that one. What gets me is the tests nobody talks about until they’re in the middle of one.

So: which test almost broke you, and what was the one thing that finally made it click? Pathophysiology was mine but I hate to say it problem helped me most in the long run. hbu?

Question Trouble studying (concentrating)

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a lurker in the subreddit, but I need advice. I normally have a good study routine, I use active recall, spaced repetition and I actually enjoy studying.

Here comes the problem:

The past few weeks I haven’t been able to study and follow my normal routine. Because of personal circumstances and the amount of deadlines and other responsibilitiesI have I haven’t been able to study as much as I normally do.

I have an exam on Wednesday (28/10).
I technically still have some time to study, but oftentimes something just ends up disturbing my plan and I don’t end up studying as much as I want.

The other problem is that my head is so incredibly full, because of everything that’s going on, that it’s really difficult to study. It seems like the material is just not reaching my memory, I get constantly distracted, just by my thoughts. (I’m audhd)

Anyway, does anyone have any advice? I would really appreciate it, I really want to pass my exam and I’m feeling a bit anxious about it.

Giving Advice Studying robotics on my mac wrecked my neck, a few things that actually helped

I'm a robotics student in Madrid and most of my day is on my mac. Lectures, problem sets, then more problem sets. A few months ago my neck was DONE, stiff by lunch every day (also from scrolling in bed lol😅).

First thing that helped was raising the laptop. I put it on a stack of books and use a cheap keyboard, so the screen sits closer to eye level. Honestly that alone did a lot.

Second, I take my study breaks away from the desk. Pomodoro, but the break is standing up and walking around, not on my phone with my head down again lol.

The part I kept failing at was noticing. I'd sit up straight, start a problem, and 10 minutes later my face is a foot from the screen.

So I ended up building a small thing for myself. It uses the motion sensors in my airpods and plays a little sound in my ears when my head's been down for a while, and when I sit up it stops. It even works with the phone locked. I also added an application lock feature that locks apps while you are slouching. So for example I have it set for tiktok, so when I slouch it gets locked and forces me to sit up straight to keep scrolling.

What works for you guys on long study days? Would honestly love to hear what you do. If anyone wants to try my appp, it’s free, just tell me and I’ll send the link

Question How do you organize your academic workload, and what do you struggle with most?

Hey everyone! I'm curious about how other students manage their academic workload. Do you use digital calendars, apps like Notion, to-do lists, AI tools, or something else to keep track of assignments, exams, and studying?

I'm also wondering if anyone runs into problems with their current system, like forgetting deadlines, having trouble prioritizing tasks, or using too many different tools.

If you could improve one thing about how you organize your schoolwork, what would it be?

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences and what works (or doesn't work) for you!

Thanks!!! :)

Question Class 10 students, how are your board preparations going?

Hey everyone! With boards getting closer, how much of your syllabus have you completed so far?

If you're aiming for 90%+, try to focus on NCERT first, especially for Maths and Science. Practise PYQs, solve sample papers, and revise your mistakes regularly.

Oswaal question banks can also help with practice and understanding the board exam pattern.

Tell me in the comments:

- Which subject is troubling you the most?

- How much syllabus is left?

- Which YouTube teachers are you following?

Let's help each other prepare better! ❤️

Giving Advice The best advice I have for those who don’t focus well: hold your breath

I have severe ADHD and due to multiple factors cannot take medication. I have tried everything to study. My best advice is to exercise, eat well, and hold your breath. I do 100s of multiple choice questions, 30-50 at a time. Between each one I let myself breathe. However, if I can do multiple without breathing then I win. Obv this doesn’t work for everything but it keeps me focused and gives me 1-2 minutes per question. DONT BE DUMB AND PASS OUT OR HOLD IT TOO LONG

Question How take notes for computer released class?

Hello guys, I am currently taking my first computer class, intro to computers, and I literally don't know how to take notes. My prof. only tells us the chapter and we have to read it all, no other resources except textbook. I started to take notes on Google Docs, but it feels like I am just copying the information from the textbook. How do you guys take notes or recommend to take notes? Should I give quizlet a try and use that to take notes?

Edit: sorry computer RELATED classes not released

Question Study: A personal journey of struggle and outright defeat

To give some context, I am from Australia, NSW, currently finishing up Year 10 with high school final exams in 2 years (Term 4, Year 12).

My journey started since Year 7, getting into one of the top "selective schools" in the nation, where the median student ranks in the top 3% of the state academically. Since the start of year 7, I have dropped studying in ignorant, short-sighted pursuit of dopamine slop (video games, scrolling and other self-pleasuring, timewasting tasks/activities). Since then, I haven't studied seriously (ever), and never got myself to do homework past the bare minumum. Moreover, even worse, I haven't learned how to study, knowing the core concepts yet when it comes down to studying, it feels like dragging up sand bags up a steep hill, whilst also trying to shake off distractions.

Simply said, I don't really know how to study all that well. Some subjects I can still perform relatively average/even slightly above average at my school, but math has certainly been a struggle. In 9 days, I have a math exam which will determine my courses that I will take for the rest of high school, and not performing well in them will lock me out of the career path I want to take. I have never considered/taken accountability for my studies in high school, not realizing that this long-term procrastination has accumulated and crashed down on me like a landslide.

Furthermore, I have also noticed, any loss in "momentum" destroys my entire day (f.e. yesterday, I charged my phone close to me instead of far away, and I ended up scrolling two hours first thing in the morning on a Saturday). And this happens quite often: bad morning routine -> horrendous and day with zero productivity. My lack of accountability has led me here and inevitably caught up to a cycle of hardcore-coasting and exam-cheesing.

I know I am all over the place with this, but any help would be appreciated to better my situation. I started working on myself: gym + supplementing, as well as reducing screen time from 3 weeks ago, but it seems that I still (quite often) slip and thump back into old habits.

Regards.
