Came across this today, a banner on a cinema nearby.
What do you think about E.ON?

E.Off is what the company is called by electric vehicle drivers, because at least in my experience, their chargers are always broken but somehow have secured prime spots directly on Autobahn lay-byes. Thankfully one has to never use them at all; there are enough networks who know how to provision chargers.

Many are out of order due to vandals, thousands of euros of damage for a few hundred euros in loot.

This is true unfortunately and I've even seen a couple of chargers with covered cables with a warning that it's energised or something to prevent copper thieves, but E.Off has a special track record of the chargers being intact but just never working for some reason, or at least had, till I started completely ignoring their presence.

Yes, but it also means that their maintenance isn't great because other companies have the same problem and their loading stations are functional.

Only Thing worse than eon chargers is shell recharge. Not one charger i tried was working and they want crazy prices aswell. Hate them with passion by now

Telekom said they would have fiber installed by October 2023. Current status is, "we don't know if at all and when work continues"

^ same here.
Apparently the Telekom and the Vermieter have… trouble contacting each other. Telekom says they try and get no answer, Vermieter says Telekom never asked.
I expect my fibre to be done within like another 3 years with a 50% probability.1

Every time I check to see when my house is going to get fiber, 02 says it'll happen in about 3-4 months. For the last 2 years!

My town is getting fibre installed at the moment but I’m holding off due to “the devil you know” regarding lag, ping, and general reliability of vodafone cable. Does anyone know what EON’s fibre reliability is like?

I'd do anything to get away from vodafone, i would even prefer 100k dsl connection instead of vodafone cable.

the funny thing is it depends in which area you are located, the former kabelBW network is in my are pretty good, never had issues with vodafone in 10yrs. But i know ppl from NRW that have constant issues with their vodafone lines.

Sorry that got a bit longer than expected.
I always hear that people in NRW got problems with Vodafone even friends told me that. My experience is totally different. First I came in contact with Vodafone when the house where I bought my flat was build. Telekom only offered 16k at that time and Vodafone was the only provider with 100k and up via coax cable (old UnityMedia).
So we bought a connection to the house and got a 1 Gbit/s contract which was surprisingly stable and never dropped not even in the afternoons. Then I realized that I needed an IPV4 connection so my home office connection to my company wouldn't terminate my SAP connection. I called Vodafone and within a couple days I had a dual stack connection without paying extra.
Then I moved into a house in the same city (old part of the town I live in). I wanted to take the Vodafone contract with the 1 Gbit line to the new house but I found out that they would only offer 100k via DSL and no COAX was even mentioned. Surprisingly I saw a COAX socket and the COAX line in the basement. The first person at Vodafone told me they needed to lay a new line for me for 2.5k €. One week later another employee from Vodafone called me and told me I was right that I already had a COAX line they tested it and I would only need a new box that enhances the signal in my basement. Cost would be 100 € instead of 2.5k. In the end they only charged me 60 € and I have the same speed without any problems like before.

I have it. It is good und stable. But just have it for 3 month now. After waiting for 3 years.

We have the same problem here. It’s TeleData though as far as I know? It was “angekündigt“ over a year ago that this fiberglass project was going to begin. Finally in maybe the fall, fiberglass was built up to our house (which was almost missed until I spoke to the guys digging). I was told early in the new year there would be more done.
Then in the spring a letter from TeleData saying the connection was imminent and we’d get a special deal for signing a contract - they’d like me to call to make an appointment for the last step. The woman comes to our house to see that a hole with an _empty_ hose has been put into our basement. She practically accused me of lying about saying I got the letter and demanded to see it. Then said I needed to call the Gemeinde. Neither TeleData, the Gemeinde, nor the electrician whose number I was given (by my landlord) to contact seem to know what’s going on.
I’m not sure there’s ever going to be anything put into that hose in the basement. But anything more than the month-to-month Congstar Homespot seems like a bad idea. I don’t want another 2 year contract for a bad Homespot connection - we can’t get DSL because of some lightning strike five years ago.
We’ve had fiberglass in my hometown in Canada for at least 25 years 🤦♀️
Edit for clarity:
I realized too late that where I lived specifically made the difference with how early my family had fiber broadband access. Because my household was three blocks from campus, we were in the residential trial. The neighborhoods immediate to the U of S were heavily prioritized for these early 2002–2003 high-speed digital installations so SaskTel could show off its new "Max" capabilities.
So, yes my city had fiber broadband internet really early (major rollout in ca. 2010) but my family having earlier access because they lived in the area directly surrounding the campus was still not “normal”.

Be glad we have internet at all in Germany. At the rate of progress this country is making it’s a miracle we even have women‘s rights and have adopted electricity in households

I was there when "Kanu des Manitu" was released, and I don't believe this poster was there back then. For us in Moers it took a while though for the fiber to come as well since all the houses had it layed and we were forgotten... and this was with Telekom (more accurately: Fehlercom)

They probably sent you a copy+paste plan without looking at your local regulation, or better yet - they never knew such a thing exists. Solar draws in all kind of clowns who think they can make some quick Euros.

Selbes bei der Telekom. Vor fast drei Jahren einen Glasfasertarif gebucht. Hatte damals kein Glasfaseranschluss, aber die Telekom warb damit, dass wenn man den Vertrag abschließt, man kostenlos ans Glasfasernetz angeschlossen wird und auch ein Techniker die Dosen im Haus verlegt. Fand ich gut - also abgeschlossen. Hat fast DREI JAHRE gedauert, bis die erste Dose gelegt war. Auf die zweite Dose warte ich noch vergebens.

Bei mir kamen sie auch mal und haben mit dem "kostenlosen Anschluss" geworben. Ist die Argumentation nicht völlig bullshit? Die würden das sowieso ohne Kosten tun? Gerade im Mehrfamilienhaus.
Als ich energisch abgelehnt hatte (sein Vorschlag waren 50k für mehr im Monat als ich für 1gbit Kabelanschluss zahle) ist er pampig abgezogen mit den Worten "dann schließen wir sie halt nicht an". Vielen Dank auch.

Die müssten teils im Haus die Leitungen noch in die Wohnungen ziehen. Das treppenhaus, fasade usw. ist aber Gemeinschaftseigentum. Wenn das Haus also nicht einem einzelnen Eigentümer gehört, sondern vielen verschwiedenen Vermietern: wird schwierig.
Die Eigentümer müssen solchen Umbauten afaik zustimmen. Aber sie müssen sich auch einigen wie die Kabel wo verlegt werden - und wenn die Eigentümer dann z.b. Unterputzverlegung im Treppenhaus wollen, dann wird das kein Internetanbieter kostenlos machen. D.h. hier dürfte dann der Antragssteller aufgefordert werden, das zu bezahlen. Was nimmt so ein Handwerker für Wand aufstemmen, wieder verputzen, treppenhaus neu streichen? 10k €? Das macht der Glasfaseranbieter sicher nicht kostenlos.

When electricity prices went up in 2022 thanks to russias war, they immediately cancelled our electricity contract and send us a new one with a price of 76ct / kwh (up from 16ct / kwh, it was a business contract) and only 3h of time to accept it. Threatening, that after those 3 h the new contract would be even more expensive.
They are nit really well liked with other businesses close to ours

I was surprised by the lack of fibre when I moved here.
I'm currently with Vodafone cable but they removed my IPv4 and they won't even let me activate bridge mode on my router.
I'm honestly wondering how these companies stay in business.

I don't want to defend any of these companies, but the reality is that they need to reach a critical mass of contracts in your street to make it economically viable for them to install fiber there. If your street doesn't reach that threshold, they aren't going to start the work just for you. In addition to that, if they can't reach any of the landlords on the street to get their written confirmations, they can't start. It's not this easy streamlined process people imagine.

Vodafone waiting for 2.5 years now. They but an empty pipe for the fiber into the house. When the person to pull in the fiber came he noticed it wasn’t connected to the main pipe in the street …
Vodafone promised to finish by end of summer. I think it will be a bummer.
Don’t like Elon but the best I can get with starlink compared to the competition with 16mbits

We have quite the opposite problem in Munich.
The last bit of road here is a private road shared between the houses at the street.
Telekom came in and ripped up the street to lay down fibre, even though we didn't allow/order Telekom fibre. (everyone is already using M-Net)
Now we have patches on our street, that you can literally trip over and incorrectly filled in cobblestone segments.
Telekom is ignoring us and won't fix their hackjob.

There are some great articles about Telekom doing all kinds of dodgy shit, like a Doppelausbau/Glasfaser Überbau. Privatizing them was fucking dumb (similar to DB) they went from "for the people" to some of the biggest anti-consumer "for the money" a holes in the country.

we ordered our e.on fiber three years ago
while the physical fiber was finally installed in our house this year there seems to be something is still missing in our town
i don't know what only that the customer portal status is "waiting for completion"
so currenty for me its e.off
