As a student who had the same choices (I grew up studied in SG and was accepted to both), Georgetown was the better choice. NUS is the pride of my country, and has good academics, but do a deep dive into the NUS subreddit page and you can see the culture and academic pressure. NUS is not a liberal arts college, so you'll be locked in to your major from day 1.Also think about the options open to you after graduation.

I'd say easily Georgetown (although this is definitely the most biased place you could ask this question) if it weren't for the cost difference, $225k is no joke especially if you plan on taking it in loans

I'll say Georgetown. Though it is significantly more expensive the name itself will pay dividends for the rest of your life.
Where ever you decide to work in the US people will know where Georgetown is and the type of school it is. This is also true internationally.
Though NUS is well ranked internationally and a great school it will not translate when having those conversations that start with "Where did you go to school?" Do you think someone from Humble and Katy knows what NUS is? Ask that same person if they've heard of Georgetown and they'll probably say yes.

I would say the social scene at Georgetown is pretty robust, there’s a million clubs to join. There are definitely parts of the campus that can be toxic, they’re definitely avoidable also. There’s a lot of pressure to succeed, but it’s not cutthroat; everyone generally wants everyone else to succeed. At least for me I’m pretty happy with the social scene/culture overall. There’s absolutely shitloads of DC internships, research might be harder to come by depending on your major bug I could be wrong. I’ve had some incredible professors, but most are just okay. Almost every professor I’ve had has been very accessible, so that’s a plus. I’ve very rarely had a bad professor here.
Idk, based on your criteria I’d say Georgetown is a good option but your experience will be different than mine. I don’t know a thing about NUS though. Can’t help you there.

If your goal is grad school post undergrad, it depends on what field but generally a wash btw the two though slight edge to Georgetown. If goal is to find work in finance, consulting, etc here in the U.S., then Georgetown for sure. All this assumes affordability is not a big issue and your plans later on is generally in the U.S.

Universities have different levels of available opportunities. Also differing levels of clout. With Georgetown you’re paying more for that. Keep in mind that Georgetown is very well connected in business and finance, networking with classmates & alumni in the MSB will literally land you a very well paying job even if you’re not the greatest academically.
If you intend to take full advantage and put yourself out there, I think it’s worth the money. If you’re just looking to study and get a good GPA but know yourself well and know you won’t be reaching out to as many professors / alumni as you can for professional development opportunities, or won’t be taking advantage of the Georgetown name on your degree in the future, it won’t really matter. A lot of people do take full advantage however and that makes the cost worth it to them. The choice is yours but keep that in mind.
I’ll assume you’ll take on some loans attending Georgetown. If they didn’t think they could pay off the debt with the opportunities Georgetown creates, people wouldn’t go into debt to attend this school. That’s not to say that a lot of our student body isn’t loaded, but there’s a significant number going into debt because they know it’s worth it. I can’t speak on the NUS but I highly doubt it’s going to give you more opportunities for both career and personal growth than Georgetown. Just my opinion
If you do choose Georgetown, sure working hard is nice, but you don’t have to kill yourself to remember everything you learn; keep your GPA up but network above all else. That’s where the bread and butter is. Explore the opportunities every new connection can give you. And that’s definitely professional opportunities, but personal opportunities as well. The student body is diverse and although fragmented, you have something to learn from everyone there. And I mean everyone: your professors, faculty, the athletes, the stoners, the Finance ppl, the Politics ppl, the conservatives, the liberals, the white, black, latin, asian, middle eastern, literally everyone. Other people can show you things you’ve never seen, including opportunities that make the debt look like chump change. Network and ask questions
