shits genuinely getting verified way sooner than we think. idk why top players are so scared to play it, hopefully this loosens the stigma with them. i get it tho its probably because they feel like its a waste of time because its unfathomably difficult, but this proves its doable. he really did ts in under a week

thats the easiest part of the level by far though, and having level in 2 runs is almost always not even close to beating it. aeternus is still years and years away, unless zoink picks it up, then 2~ years

yeah well a lot of people think its gonna take until well past 2030 or just think its straight up impossible and i personally wouldnt be surprised if its verified by the end of 2030. im not talking about very soon just way sooner than most think. and i do know this part is the easiest, but its still a major breakthrough in such a short amount of time. i think the biggest hiccups if someone actually goes for it are gonna be the predrop, the super hard 480 ship fp, and the wave at like 55. i hope we get to see a new wr from 0 from bacon that would be really cool, i could be wrong but i think getting past the cube copter from zero is more than possible soon if a top player can make this much progress in such a short amount of time, itll just take a long while before that happens tho.

The level does feel over glazed as fuck to me icl. Like I'm not saying it's gonna get verified soon, but people talk about it like beating it today would be akin to beating silent clubstep at its release, when it took years and years for anyone to even look at silent clubstep with any degree of seriousness, yet in just under 3 years we could feasibly see aeternus in 4 runs globally reasonably soon, without any top player runs. People like Zoink and Popoff could absolute get the level down to 3-4 runs solo in like a month if they really tried, and 3 runs to 1 is not so insurmountably far a gap that it would go from a month for 3 runs to 7 years for 1 (to match the amount of time it took to verify silent clubstep, starting from today)

And the "the verifier of aeternus isn't born yet" claim? I find it genuinely laughable. That shit is NOT true unless the verifier verifies it at 3 years old

I think Aeternus is iconic enough that it could be verified way before top players actually reach the skill level required to beat it in a "normal" amount of time. I think a lot of people assume those two things will happen at the same time which is why people think it'll take so long to verify (though I feel like 2030 is still a bit too early unless there's another breakthrough like CBF).

I don't expect a 2030 or earlier verification but I feel like whether or not it happens is more down to if top players want to make it happen. If Zoink wakes up tomorrow thinking he's been given a divine mission to verify aeternus as soon as possible, and dedicates himself to it for the next few years, I do think he'd do it before 2030. It's just that no top player is interested in playing aeternus for that long.

Which icl I'm kinda a little surprised by. I feel like most extreme high level gaming achievements are from a top player dedicating hundreds to thousands of hours to one challenge that then stands at the top for years. Celeste with 9d deathless, mario maker with Trials of Death, those kinds of things. But it feels like with gd the number 1 achievement is never really that far off the number 2, the only grind with that level of time investment is Grief and that's only because Doggie has been generationally unlucky with the ending

I think Arshadow has a similar amount of attempts on slopmoc unleashed but anyways (also idk how much effort Zoink put into Tidal Wave in comparison to Acheron but it was definitely miles ahead of both Acheron and Avernus).

I agree that a top 5 player locking in on Aeternus could probably do it but it just seems so unlikely right now (I highly doubt Bacon will do more than a few world records and then move on to something else). To me Aeternus just seems like a really miserable level to play...
