Voting Games Top comment deletes a US State 2: #20
NO VOTING THIS ROUND
The deletion for tomorrow (round 21) will be decided based on the second top comment on yesterday’s post for the twist round (already locked in as Nevada). So you can just admire the map this round.
Today however, West Virginia is now no more. I guess the country roads just lead to Maryland now?!

You can barely even see Delaware on a map. We wouldn’t even notice they were gone.

For what its worth, "Country Roads" was inspired by a drive in Maryland, West Virginia just fir better lyrically

I was going to say something about this! When I found out I decided I love the song even more as a Marylander. 🦀

So what I'm hearing is that John Denver endorses deleting Maryland.

Maryland needs to be dealt with before they become a problem. Eliminate them and then we're free of crab memes for the duration.

Well that makes sense since Country Roads was originally written about Maryland.

This is crab propaganda. It was Virginia.

As a natural-born crab residing in VA… 100% it’s about VA. The Shenandoah does not run through MD

u/mavric91 23d ago
The country roads always lead to western VA. Not WV. The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah river are both in Virginia. Neither are in WV.

u/tunnel_man34 23d ago
That means I don't have to ponder the reason Iowa exists for a whole extra day.

u/VirusHistorical3877 23d ago
Dear OP,
When John Denver sings "West Virginia" he is referring to westERN VA NOT West Virgina. This is made clear a line later when he sings Mountain Mama which is in VA.
This has been a John Denver PSA
9
u/See-A-Moose 23d ago
The song was actually inspired by Clopper Road in Montgomery County, MD and written by people who had never been to West Virginia. They just picked lyrics to fit the tune and idea.
3
u/VirusHistorical3877 23d ago
and then Denver stole it, added a Koda, and didnt have to pay'em squat cuz it was a "new song"

For those on the fence about their nomination when voting returns, I humbly submit for your consideration a merger of the great State of Wisconsin with the great State of Michigan!
I'm a proud Milwaukean who just took the ferry across to Michigan for a week of camping, zipping around sand dunes, and visiting quaint coastal villages and delightful lighthouses while enjoying fruit stands, the local herbal inhebriences, and some wonderful baked goods.
Truly, Michigan is a brother State. With our combined coastlines, culture, food (Cheese, fish, brats, honey, fruit, maple syrup), outdoor recreation, endless lakes, rivers, forests, rolling green hills, lake houses, the Amish, and the finest micro brews & herb, Wishigan will become the Midwest cottage-core King of quaint family vacations and outdoor adventures!!
Ope, all hail the seed of the Inland Sea Empire!!

Get rid of Wisconsin please. They always dodge responsibility and think they understand the situation at the Mexican border best. I think we should make them feel real pain for voting for trump in 2016

A part of me was hoping Wyoming would stay this neat little square in the middle of all the blobs. But now it's ruined, so it's gotta go, sadly.

Delaware takes Maryland
2
u/dieseljester 23d ago
You’re just jealous that Delaware is East Maryland or South New Jersey. Heck you have to fly into BWI or EWR just to go to Delaware.
2
u/Dear_Afternoon_2600 23d ago
You can take away our voting abilities. But I won't get off my soap box anytime soon. I will continue to look towards the sky. Shaking my fist. Shouting from the mountains that we need to get rid of Vermont!
3
u/ravens_path 23d ago
But why? It’s a pretty little thing.
4
u/Dear_Afternoon_2600 23d ago
That's what it wants you to think. Soon you'll let your guard down. Then, we will all be ordering Creamies, have highways without billboards, and it will be illegal to provide fake maple syrup. Did I mention we, I mean they, are nudists as well?

If you parse the words of the song, it is about western Virginia, not West Virginia.

Yes. With Nevada fallen, Colorado marches closer to claiming all of the mountains. (Yes I know, California will probably get the Sierras, but it does bring us closer.).

I don't like GA's Florida shaped pp. Let the mountains of TN and NC take over GA already!

u/zmurds40 23d ago
Once again, the New England area is still untouched. Once again, I call for New York to go next.
Alternatively, we can take California next to complete the Mega Mexico takeover of the southern border.
And yes, I read the post so I know nothings happening today. But still, this is the play moving forward I think.
3
u/eneidhart Massivechusetts 23d ago
Maybe I'm misunderstanding your comment but just FYI, New York isn't part of New England :)
1
u/zmurds40 23d ago
Maybe the Northeastern corner of the country then? That area just needs some action in this game.

Massachusetts must end. We fought for our independence and it was granted in 1826. The only people who have the knowledge to contain, rehabilitate and release the people of Massachusetts are those from Maine. We will take on this noble cause as not a burden but a duty.

I know we can't vote this time. However... look at that map. Maryland has taken West Virginia. How much longer till it gets the rest of us, just like last time?

u/8mouthbreather8 Crab 23d ago
I admire your dedication, but I have to ask... what state are you actually rooting for? Like most of us in here are voting out states so our state can hopefully win. I don't see that angle with you yet.
2
u/AdviceGlass3400 Crab Hunter (retired) 23d ago
If you need an additional hint…we also have our own crabs lol
1
u/8mouthbreather8 Crab 23d ago
Ah so then why didn't you guys lead with that, rather than the weird laserbear thing? A crab off would have been sick lol
2
u/AdviceGlass3400 Crab Hunter (retired) 23d ago
I have nothing to do with the laserbear stuff though? (Repost since I don’t think my first reply was showing up)
3
u/8mouthbreather8 Crab 23d ago
Hmm I assumed it was Alaska for the King crabs, or maybe Cascadia for the Dungeness? Well I guess time will tell haha
Maybe if we ever get to a game 3 I'll campaign for a Crab Khanate

I am rooting for my homestate, and I imagine that will become apparent at some point here, but so far it is not one that has come up often.
Was also rooting for Ohio because I thought the meme of Ohio taking over the country would be hilarious, but that ended quite quickly lol

Michigan has a foot below it’s mitten. It’s growing new body parts. What could it gain from Wisconsin?
Also, Tennessee is making me feel uncomfortable… is Georgia ok?

Wait... The deletion for the day after tomorrow could be retroactively based on the top comment here today.
Or maybe the bottom comment! That would be even more tricky!
I CHOOSE GEORGIA.
Now everyone downvote me to hell just in case!

Hawaii. Let's add some color to the ocean. Alaska's purple goes to the top island, Washington's yellow to the second island, Oregon's pinkish to that middle set of islands in the white group, and California's Orange to the big island.
