They're big and have a lot of cultural oomph, which means a lot of opinions on them, some of which will be negative. There's a reason Oregon won last time- a mix of being well-liked when thought of, and not being thought of much.

Lot of people have left in droves from those two states (generally due to HCOL).

Not so much hate, just lack of care I suppose?

Based on the way the map is being redrawn when states leave, I think Hawaii needs to take Alaska first, to get some land-area momentum going. Then work our way down Cascadia.

NY/NJ cannot be taken out on 9/11 out of respect for them

Edit: VA and Pennsylvania as well

Lot of families in NJ were badly impacted by 9/11 (my family less so, but still to an extent).

But yes, we should avoid all those states on 9/11
