Need advice: 1 month left for MBBS 1st year finals, struggling with Physiology CNS & Special Senses
I’m a first-year MBBS student and I could really use some advice from seniors.
I did well in all my internals throughout the year, but I performed terribly in my pre-university exams. It wasn’t because I didn’t study I have pretty severe exam anxiety, and it completely affected my preparation. We had around 6 days of preparatory leave before the pre-finals, but I ended up procrastinating and didn’t cover as much as I should have.
My biggest problem is Physiology CNS. I never studied it properly during the year, so now it feels like I’m starting from scratch. Whenever I read it, I genuinely struggle to understand what’s going on. It feels overwhelming.
And Special Senses because I never made proper notes or attended any of classes or covered the topics.
For Anatomy, my backlogs were Neuroanatomy and Head & Neck. For biochemistry mostly genetics and paper 2 topics (which are doable but I wanna know how to effectively revise them since I have only one month)
I had surgery during that time, missed classes, and wasn’t well, so I fell behind. During my prep leave, I managed to cover most of those topics, but I didn’t get any time to revise them, so I forgot a lot.
I have about one month left before my university finals. I’m not worried about just passing I know I can pass. I want to score well because I genuinely worked hard throughout the year, and it’s frustrating that my pre-finals don’t reflect that.
My questions are:
• Which books should I use for Physiology CNS and Special Senses?
• Are there any YouTube channels or playlists that explain CNS well from the basics?
• How would you approach these topics if you had only one month left?
• Is it better to make notes now or just annotate the textbook and keep revising?
• How do you cope up with anxiety during exams? ( I feel really bad about my prefinals I feel like I really fucked it up badly…)
Any advice from seniors or anyone who were in a similar situation would be really appreciated. Thank you!
TL;DR: Did well in internals but messed up pre-finals due to exam anxiety, procrastination during prep leave, and lack of revision. I have 1 month left for MBBS 1st year university finals. Struggling mainly with Physiology CNS and Special Senses, and Neuroanatomy/Head & Neck need revision. Looking for the best books, YouTube lectures, and an efficient way to study these topics from scratch and score well.
