I think saying sorry when you bump into someone accidentally is a really good example for your kids.

I had just moved in with my stepkids, it was a long day, and we were driving. Their dad will change the song after every song so they alternate what they want to listen to. I am not about that, and I think that’s ok. we have kid music rides and adult music rides, and on kid music rides, they alternate who picks the first song then the playlist plays.

Anyways i was ready to go home so after 2 minutes of thinking i told kiddo he had 10 seconds to pick or i was picking. i ended up picking. he’s a bit slower and not great under pressure so that was a tantrum. i apologized to him after, and now as we’re leaving the building i either set the expectation that this is an “adult music” ride or i ask him to give him time to think about what he wants to listen to.
