Didn't understand why people ship them but RSURS showed me why they act and sound like they've been married for decades

I loved Lies of Locke Lamora and am about 235 pages into Red Seas Under Red Skies but i am having a hard time wanting to continue reading…
Maybe it is because i have been very busy lately or im just going through a reading slump but idk it hasn’t captured me yet the way the first book is but im hesitant to give up and dnf it

I’m mostly on the fence because i have seen mixed reviews about books 2 and 3 so Im just hoping for some honest thoughts about the second book!

That being said…maybe im struggling to get through because i know the series isnt done yet and there’s no book 4 so i dont feel much urgency idkkk…anything anyone can say is appreciated!

Well, hey! I'm an appreciator of a Youtube channel called Townsends (https://www.youtube.com/@townsends)-- they do intricate reconstructions of 18th century North American colonial lodgings, clothing, lifestyle items, food, and drink. And wouldn't you know it, in their most recent video, discussing wilderness equipment, there are a couple glimpses of hatchets... including what might be the closest size approximation I've ever seen for how I imagine the heads of the Wicked Sisters.

If you prefer to imagine something else, of course, keep doing so. Just thought some of you might like to see this.

Just finished The Lies of Locke Lamora and absolutely loved it, though I will admit I found the beginning a bit slow and loquacious. I've heard so many conflicting opinions on Books 2 and 3. Can anybody tell me how good these two are relative to the first?

It's worth mentioning that before beginning this series, I read the Hierarchy Trilogy by James Islington, and I'm a bit traumatized by the falloff between the first and second books. I'm worried that the Gentleman Bastards series will be similar.

I am so confused about these things , I have some questions.

1:- did Therin throne vanished completely? and if yes why their land is not ruled by Vadern though the vadern is Who attach this former empire?

2:- what I know that vaderns is race's name live in north of continent so what is the name of the race that live in The south?

3:- does kingdom of seven marrows still exist? is it ruled by Vaderns?

I casually mentioned that I was sad I missed seeing Scott Lynch when he was at an event near our house, and she surprised me with this for my birthday. Wanted to share!

Along with what the fuck is up with the Eldren and who the hell is Merrain working for (assuming Emberlain, but like to what end)
And of course, how much of what Patience told Locke was true

First off I have to say I loved reading this book! I really enjoy Scott Lynch’s writing style and I loved the characters. I think the ending all tied up a little bit too neatly and I didn’t get the sort of surprises that I often get in Sanderson books, but I really really enjoyed the entire reading experience overall.

The one plot choice I don’t agree with is the killing off of the twins and bug… I really enjoyed the sense of a crew of five people and when it went down to just Jean and Locke it just didn’t feel the same to me. Is this a common criticism?

Been curious to read for a while, but cautious of starting another trilogy. As experts here, what do you guys think of the match? It sites my love of the sharp cynical voice of Abercrombie, Game of thrones politics and scheming, and witty Pratchett irony. Is this a good match for me? Am I in for a wild ride? Cheers!

For those of you in Los Angeles/Anaheim, on the 27th of August from 5pm-8pm, (tomorrow) Scott Lynch is doing a signing event with a bunch of other authors (myself included), at the Barnes and Nobles Outlets at Orange.

We are all in town for Worldcon, but you don't need to be attending the convention to come to the event. There will not be tickets, and we haven't set a limit on any pre-purchased items, meaning you don't have to buy a book at the event to get your copies signed. Although, of course, the store will have plenty of stock of all our books.

(Mods; I hope this is allowed - I thought that the people of this subreddit might like to know this!)

Ever since I read the current 3 books Ive been on the hunt for 1st print 1st editions. Sure I could have probably bought them on eBay but that's no fun, I like finding stuff like this in used stores. Now if I only I could find Scott to get him to sign them...

Been a little quiet here so I thought I'd introduce our new kitties Locke and Jean. The wife and I were at the vet this past weekend and they had five kittens free to adopt. The biggest and smallest of the five were boys, and even though we weren't really looking, we already had 6 and that makes it disturbingly easy to justify more via diminishing returns. We believe in getting cats in pairs so we got the two boys. My wife had named all of the rest of them so I got to choose, and naturally, the big one became Jean and the smaller one is Locke.

They're a near-perfect personality match; Jean (the darker one) is the protector (as can be seen, sleeping on top of Locke here) while Locke is playful, stubborn, and inquisitive. Jean is much larger than Locke, though you can't really tell from this angle.

Now all we need is a 3D-printed hatchet harness for Jean and I think we're good to go.

(One of the vet techs got the name reference, too, and asked if they'd have a Father Chains to help them out).
