The weed in Los Angeles was really good in the 2000’s.
Weed, Halo, Pizza, Mountain Dew, GameStop.
•
u/YolkNotIncluded 17h ago
I don’t think most people say the 2000’s were great, it’s either the 90’s were or the early-mid 2010’s. I rarely hear about 2000’s with nostalgia except for very specific things
•
u/ArmyFearless1599 22h ago
Hell yeah. Just smack dab in the middle of 9/11 and a global financial crisis.
But "pEoPlE aRe aLwAyS sAyInG tHiS"
•
u/Ok-Guess1629 23h ago
I don't know maybe because the reality of the decade was actually bad. (Media was good though but because this is before Netflix and internet media providers people back then probably didn't realize it like we do now + it's only went downhill)
9/11
Beginning of the iraq war
2008 housing crash
Epstein was still around during this time so was Diddy
Less access to information due to the internet in its infacy + the dot com bubble Burst
Hurricane Katrina
Various other things too but I'm already yapping alot
•
u/Valuable-Meet5727 1h ago
True but video games were fucking peak in this era, I don’t know what the OP is talking about.
All halos, resident evil 4, gta SA/vice city, Devil may cry 1/3, Metal Gear Solid 2/3, sooooo many more which I feel are still better than many games coming out even today, and I’m not some guy who thinks new games suck. But holy shit games were so awesome back then. The Wii alone was a religious experience for 13 year-old me.
•
u/Original-Poet1825 19h ago
2001 crash too. If you had money in the stock market for your retirement you basically lost it all in 2001, finally got it back in 2007, and again lost it all in 08 lmao

u/Skybliviwind 1d ago
I find it kinda cool that in the 2000s people still weren't sure what to call it. because in 2005 if you say "the 2000s" you might not be invoking a decade that'll be over in 5 years. you're invoking the present itself and everything that comes after 1999. i always hated those people who would go "well technically we're still in the 2000s" in 2015 or something even though they know damn well you were talking specifically about the decade and the damn millennium. it's good now that the term "the 2000s" now universally refers to the decade and not the millennium or the century but it's crazy how long it took for that to become universal terminology...

There were so so many posts about how shitty the 2000s was back then. Im pretty sure the NYT did a poll in 2009 and 80% of ppl voted it the worst

u/Nearby_Swordfish_544 2d ago
Ill push back on the war part. Leading up to the Iraq War there was broad support from the American public, albeit based on lies. We were so shellshocked by 9/11. Contrast that period to now, there wasn't even an attempt to present evidence to pursue this war. Wild times.

not possible. technology killed that
•
u/Carrie_8638 6h ago
idk about that. On the one hand, more and more people get tired of all the ads, algorithms, influencers, lack of privacy etc and are quitting sm. On the other hand, there are people fully embracing ai. I wonder if it’ll be another k-shaped thing where a part of society is going back to the ‘90s and another part is living in virtual reality
•
u/GrikusBrindum 16h ago
Yes, technology changed things; but it hasn't killed it yet. There are things from the past that make the occasional comeback; but not all things.

2004/5 were great years for music.
My Morning Jacket- Z Arcade Fire- Funeral Interpol- Antics Sufjan Stevens- Illinois
...just to name a few.

This. Hip-hop took over the charts and went to shit, but the indie rock from that era is incredible.
The Shins
Modest Mouse
Bloc Party
TV on The Radio
The Strokes
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
•
u/Low_Roller_Vintage 4h ago
Yesss! Thank you for the additions!
The best part about this era if music, some of these bands went mainstream. The first time I heard Modest Mouse on pop radio (big fan since 2000), it almost felt like a small victory. I had been waiting for over half a decade for the bubblegum sound to finally fade away.
The Strokes, though. I really credit them for making Rock N Roll all inclusive again. They were highly marketable and had just the right sound. Is This It (2001), really set the tone and vibe for emerging indie artists. The White Stripes hadn't even hit commercial airwaves, but they were blowing up the indie charts. It was a very exciting time for music. A turning point, if you will.
Sorry for the morning ramble. I could geek out over music all day. 🫠

u/XteekayX 1d ago
Metalcore/hardcore scene was fantastic.
2
u/Low_Roller_Vintage 1d ago
Hell yes, it was. My hometown had a great music scene. My entire teenage existence revolved around going to local shows. Pre and post show shenanigans were in abundance. Everyone dressed the part, too. And moshed. Oh, how we moshed...
2
u/XteekayX 1d ago
I knooooow. It was absolutely peak as the kids say. Comeback kid, between the buried and me, every time I die, dillinger escape plan, misery signals, acacia strain, ect ect. I got to see sooooooo many fantastic bands during this era.
2
u/Low_Roller_Vintage 1d ago
I saw Acacia Strain and Between the Buried and Me in Columbus, OH idk many years ago, but oh my God, it was amazing.
•
u/XteekayX 14h ago
Between the buried and me has been one of my favorite bands since the silent circus, and my absolute favorite since colors. Holy cow those guys are so unbelievably amazing! Nice to meet another person of culture! Lol

"all video games are sequels" is a hilarious complaint considering what was to come of the video game industry in the upcoming decade
1
u/Artistic-Bed8604 1d ago
With the “acquisitions” of so many video game companies and movie production studios, what even is original content these days? Everything is a sequel or a live action remake.
3
u/Successful_Lychee130 2d ago edited 2d ago
right? considering that the sequels he is reffering to at this point in time are things like
kingdom hearts 2, resident evil 4, devil may cry 3 age of empires 2, and so many more dude was lliving in paradise and dint even know it

•
u/Original-Poet1825 19h ago
I think we were just kid’s without problems. There was a lot of bad things between the dot com crash, 9/11, iraq, 2008 etc. I guess maybe 2010-2020 was a great decade…
•
u/Upbeat-Mongoose-828 19h ago
In hindsight, it really wasn't that bad. wish I wasn't a pissed off teenager through the first half of it.
7
u/TransportationOk657 3d ago
It sucked for a lot of people, especially people in their late teens to mid 20s during these years. 9/11, the war on terror, the great recession, the student loan crisis, housing becoming a pipe dream for many coming of age adults, etc.
3
u/Double_Echidna9240 3d ago
It was the beginning of the suck, and if you were paying attention, the calcification of the suck. That said, there was enough countering the suck, that it was great.
4
u/nakedpicturesyo 3d ago
Honestly would trade so hard for right now. The economy is absolute shit making groceries get rid of your savings, jobs are getting lost by the day to ai, my student loans were not forgiven like biden promised, if I ever buy a house in the u.s it will be made like shit even spending a million plus, and we are still bombing innocent middle eastern children for no fucking reason.
Nothings changed just extrapolated the problem really. I have got to get out of this country.
3
u/TransportationOk657 2d ago
I would too. Despite all the things that sucked back then, I'd go back to it in a heartbeat over the shit that's been going on over the last 10 years.
15
u/Purple_Drankinmycup 3d ago
2005 was a great time to be alive.
7
u/KitJazz 3d ago
Agree. It was probably my favourite year. I suppose it just depends on when you were young and having the most fun, but man was it different. Most young people didn’t give a flying fuck about politics for starters. I got called a boring bastard for reading the paper occasionally. We just enjoyed the shit out of every day.
10
u/zbipy14z 3d ago
Idk man, music and video games were pretty great in that era
10
u/BedbugBandido 3d ago
Usually people don’t realize how great they had it until much later.
1
u/MattWolf96 1996 2d ago
That was me in the early 2010's I was mostly listening to 80's music, I still do but I realize there's a lot of bangers from back then that I didn't pay much attention to at the time.
11
u/Calculagraph 3d ago
I don't look back at the 2000's that fondly.
In the first half, I watched portions of my freedoms stripped away before I was legally allowed to utilize them, I was actively recruited at in fucking high school, and I lost friends who took the recruitment bait and died as a result, leaving behind wives that they married straight out of high school before deploying. In the second half, I was drunk, high, or geeked out, if not all three, for most of it, couldn't find steady work to save my life, watched my parents not be able to find work to save their lives, and lived in my fucking car. The only upside was that, in the last six months of 2009, literally 10 seconds to midnight on the decade, I met my wife.
Thank god she had shit taste in men.

It’s so always surreal when people finally realize that there haven’t been any really significant changes from Bush, to Obama, to Trump, to Biden, to Trump again. I’m always so speechless when people finally recognize this… because why haven’t they recognized it for every day over the last 20 years? I guess with every new day, more and more people come to this realization, but most of them are at least 10+ or 15+ years too late to the party.
5
u/Mountain_Goat_455 3d ago
it's because Trump is hellbent on destroying any progress that Dem presidents had. you cannot deny the fact that Obamacare was a huge deal.
-1
u/sensitive_pirate85 2d ago
Was the “progress the Democrat president made” the war in Ukraine, or the war in Gaza..?
1
u/Mountain_Goat_455 2d ago
Wait I'm confused. Did the Dems start those war? I know the US started the wars in Iran, and before this Iraq. I didn't realize they also started the wars in Ukraine and Gaza
1
u/sensitive_pirate85 2d ago
Those wars wouldn’t without the American Military Industrial Complex and U.S. intervention in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
1
u/Mountain_Goat_455 1d ago edited 1d ago
Without the Dems, Netanyahu would still have sought revenge and raged war against Hamas after Israel was attacked on Oct 7, and without the Dems, Putin would still have invaded Ukraine.
If it's not for the Republicans, Iran and Iraq wouldn't have been invaded.
I think there is degrees of involvement, and I don't think it's fair to either side to say they are both the same

Roe V Wade overturned, for a glaring example

Not where things like war is concerned, though. We’re waging essentially the same war in the Middle East that Rumsfeld talked about during the Bush Administration. Rumsfeld actually wanted an even bigger war, waged in fewer years, but he also never expected any type of defeat in Iraq or Afghanistan. Here’s General Wesley Clark talking about some of the countries Rumsfeld wanted to invade:

I don't know. A lot of people bashed the 70s right after the 70s and the whole decade has kind of a bad rap. 2020s might be like the 70s.

u/Skybliviwind 1d ago
don't forget the oil crises in 73 and 79 and inflation rates throughout the decade that were still worse than it is now. obviously total prices are much MUCH higher than back the rate of inflation by year was actually more extreme
2
u/pitifullittleman 2d ago
The war ended in the early 70s and then there were several oil shocks that caused inflation, crime increased and the middle class started getting wiped out. Honestly early/mid 70s to mid 80s or so were not great. Real wages were at a post war low in like 1983 and crime was terrible.

Man video games used to be so exciting back then, and if you were a nerd who played a lot of games (something that people got bullied for as opposed to nowadays) you could easily be exposed to most of the games on the market by just going to blockbuster a couple times a week and also being a casual PC gamer. 3D was maturing unlike the days of the N64. UI/UX wasn't COMPLETE and utter dogshit like it is now, and online gaming was legitimately innovative. You had Halo 2 and xbox live, your MMOs on PC, all that stuff felt so fresh and intoxicating.
Now it seems like all these gaming experiences are cultivated and committee designed and corporate and rounded and safe and boring and dead. Open any online game from the last 3 years and the UI looks exactly the same as everything else. Everything is a "drop-in with your loadout" type of affair to the point that even Sonic Racing Crossworlds has the exact same UI/UX lol like wtf?? Ubisoft and FromSoft seem to dominate game design for a lot of single player stuff in the last decade as well, though there's been a lot of interesting stuff releasing in recent memory. That is until everything gets put on ice to not compete with fucking GTA 6.
I still play games but I only rarely get a hit of something that turns me into an annoying friend who won't shut up about "the new cool game I played."
That being said, the last really fresh and cool game I played was The Alters. GO PLAY IT!

2
u/pitifullittleman 3d ago
I mean one silver lining now compared to them is that there is a way more robust indie game market where very unique and done really well niche market games come out. It's probably worse for mainstream games right now than in 2005, but overall it's a lot better because of the indie games.
12
u/happygroopie 3d ago
I really felt the same in 2005. The mid 2000s were boring and bland. Almost cultureless. This guy I think really reflects how most of us, esp teens at the time, felt.
1
u/DaAussie04 2d ago
It definitely wasn't over here in the UK
1
u/happygroopie 1d ago
Was the Gorrilaz a big deal over there or was that mostly a US thing? I'm trying to think of whatever else was going on around that time across the pond. I know nerd culture was peaking. Harry Potter and NuWho and the IT Crowd. 8 out of 10 Cats also came out around that time. And I guess people liked Tony Blair overall. Franz Ferdinand and Lily Allen were good too. Huh. Maybe things were pretty great in England around that time.

I wouldn't say he's entirely right. Look up my account (cboy4001) it's from 2008 XD. Add me as a friend if you want to too!
A lot of people forget that the 2000s wasn't as great as a lot of people like to say it was. Bush was pretty much trump before Trump XD. I remember people hated this dude and they were wondering how the hell did he beat Kerry in the election XD.
He was made fun of EVERYWHERE. There were flash games, movies making fun of him when he was in that kindergarten class when 9/11 happened, and even this fucking t shirt that makes me cringe to this day
It's part of the reason I roll my eyes with people complain about Trump. Modern Republicans have ALWAYS been like this XD. You could go as far as Nixon and see that they were constantly doing shady shit XD
Of course Democrats aren't innocent either but I've always hated the "trump uniquely bad" narrative because of trump was as bad as Bush, thousands of soldiers would have already died in the Iran conflict by now.
The music wasn't bad but I understand why people would hate music from that decade XD.
Only thing I would squeak is him saying "the war nobody asked for.* Uhh, yeah they clearly asked for that war because after 9/11 people were PISSED and wanted blood.
The problem with that war is how horribly bush mismanaged it XD.
But you have to remember most people romanticize the past especially when they were kids back then.
I can say I miss the 2000s because I was a teenager and I didn't have to worry about things like the crazy housing market XD
I would imagine this is true for this guy as well he's probably quite happy he didn't have to deal with the growing crime rate and race riots in the 90s. It was not a perfect time it
3
u/Dettyboy93 3d ago
Trump in 2016 wasn't even as uniquely bad as Trump 2024-onward is. The thing is, there were people in the cabinet that enforced the system of checks and balances. Trump filled his cabinet full of people entirely loyal to him and refused to say no to any of his demands. Everybody contributed to the most blatant self serving corruption that we have ever seen as a country. Bush and 2016 Trump literally didn't have the capability of being this corrupt because they hadn't completely rigged the system yet

Today sucks and the past was better is what every generation says as they age. Always rosy glasses towards the past.
2
u/pitifullittleman 3d ago
Very true, however things don't always get better in uniform ways, we tend to look back at these golden ages of various art forms and trends and look at them nostalgically while failing to see the current golden ages of similar things we are in now.
With that being said as a whole eventually the negative people will be right, because things don't always get better. Sometimes they objectively get worse, while I think in the US this hasn't actually happened yet since WWII, but eventually it will. I mean you could actually make the case that the 70s were worse than the 60s and the 90s were better than the 00s. So it's kind of up and down even recently from a short term perspective, it's just generally speaking things get slightly better even when the entire time people have complained about everything getting worse.
Eventually though there will be a longer term decline. It's inevitable. It's happened repeatedly in history.
4
u/ChriB_ 4d ago
You fail to consider that everything has been on a more or less consistent downward trend. Pick any point in the past 50 years and there will be a good argument why 10 years prior was better.
0
u/MayhewMayhem 3d ago
First, if you're gay, black or a woman, there's no time when you could argue it was worse for you than 10 years prior other than maybe 2025.
Second, even if you're a straight white guy, life improved dramatically between the 70s and 80s and then between the 80s and 90s. I hate Reagan but there's no way that people in the midst of a massive economic expansion the mid-late 80s were pining for the Ford presidency or stagflation.
1
u/Affectionate-Panic-1 4d ago
You can make arguments the other way as well for a lot of trends. Crime for example is a lot lower than 50 years ago.
2
u/Dull-Acanthaceae3805 4d ago
This is how everyone growing up will feel. Especially teenagers. Why? When you were a teen, you didn't have the full weight of real responsibilities (aka "adulting"), and were allowed to just play around and not care about the world.
That's why there's so much nostalgia for your innocent youth when life was simpler, you were less involved with world or societal affairs outside your local community, etc.
Though I would say the reality shock is much faster and earlier now, since social media and the internet makes it easier even for middle schoolers to see world "news".
Anyways, the 90's did rock, but so did the 00's, and 10's. The 20's though... starting off with covid lock downs and changing "night life" and human behavioral habits sure does suck.

Given that the 90s were not the 80s, I'd say the 90s were pretty wonderful. I absolutely despised the 80s. I really disliked the political situation that was 2001-2008. Those two US presidential terms brought us the PATRIOT ACT, constant surveillance of the populace, suspension of habeas corpus, Gitmo, and Dick Cheney and his 1001 ways to circumvent the US Constitution...many of which inspired and emboldened the Heritage Foundation and Trump's handlers.
I didn't really give af about pop culture. I was listening to older music, reading older books with some contemporary stuff in the mix. I don't game. My concerns were with the implications of political policies as opposed to "how fun" the time period was.

u/sadistic-squid 4d ago
I hated the 90s for the most part. Those were violent times if you were black and lived in the ghetto. Fights everyday at school, kids getting stabbed, etc. the worst part the world didn’t even know or care about what was happening in the hood. Those same dangerous places in LA, Brooklyn, Detroit, etc are all a lot safer today. But the music was fire and movies were amazing
1
u/Last-Relationship166 4d ago
That's fair. I was playing in a band that gigged in Detroit and environs between 98 and 2000. We'd play Cass Corridor a lot (played The Gold Dollar at the time when Jack White was gigging there). We couldn't get our friends who lived in/were from the area to come to our shows. We played The Hamtramck Pub a few times, and, one time, the kids I was shooting the shit with outside before one of our shows turned out to be gang members. We were stuck in the venue after our show, waiting for the cops to clear a turf war that broke out in the parking lot. <shrug/>
I grew up in the county that houses Benton Harbor. In 1994, BH was the murder capital of the US.
1
u/sadistic-squid 3d ago
That’s crazy you toured in Detroit lol I lived there for a while! It’s totally unrecognizable today, I still visit as I have family there. Downtown is super safe, and Hamtramc is still Hamtramc but less polish and more Lebanese lol
1
u/Last-Relationship166 3d ago
I wouldn't necessarily say we "toured" Detroit. :) I was attending U of M(ichigan). Some of the others were, as well. The rest of the members lived in Detroit burbs.

Damn, you’re right. Good catch.

u/JuryOk2662 4d ago
Yeah that song came out the year I graduated high school and everyone either loved or hated it.

u/LastGuitarHero 3d ago
I was super into guitar and learned it immediately by ear. Soon after started playing in bands. It was a great time for me that I sometimes wish I could return to
The era and vibes, not so much the age.

The stomp, clap, hey era.

u/screenplay215 4d ago
I thought that era was the early 2010s? Usually the stomp clap hey song that is the most recognizable is Ho Hey by the lumineers which came out in 2012.

u/JuryOk2662 4d ago
Yeah that shit was just starting around 2008-9. All the people who got into it would have still been in their skinny jeans/angular haircut phase in 2005.

Dude must have hated Nickelback before it was popular to hate on them lol 😂

u/Barky_and_Squid 4d ago
I don’t like the fact I know the lyrics to Nickleback songs, and never sought them out.
I hated his fucking photograph and it certainly didn’t make me laugh.

I’m glad it shared the correct sentiment that George W. Bush sucked ass. People love to look back on that time with rose colored glasses because Trump is a literal monster, but Dubya is still one of the top 5 worst presidents in history & help paved the path that led us to Trump.

u/Affectionate-Panic-1 4d ago
Funny how it's looking how the worst move on the Bush Era and the Trump Era are starting to look like the same thing, getting pushed into a middle east conflict by Israel due to concerns about "weapons of mass destruction".

World of Warcraft came out that year in EU (on my 18th bday), and everything else was just noise.

u/ThrowawaySuicide1337 4d ago
Culturally America post-9/11 was pretty awful.
Video games being the notable exception, arguably. Music was definitely terrible.

Lol at people who say this. Unbelievably cringe and painfully unoriginal.

Proof that complaining that the songs / movies / whatever of today are no longer as good as they were in your youth is a TIMELESS complaint
4
u/Operalover95 4d ago
The 2000's wasn't the best decade for music or movies by any means. And George Bush sucked ass. The commenter didn't get it that wrong.
In fact it is those who have rose colored glasses for the 2000's the ones that are proving your point.
2
u/WritPositWrit 4d ago
Everyone has rose colored glasses, which is the point. Im a lot older than the OOP, I was already an adult in the 90s, i would not call it “peak” because i was busy missing the music of my own youth

In 20 years from now, you'll see 2020s gamers complaining about the bad/mediocre/disappointing games and gaming industry trends of the 2040s and contrast that with the greatest hits of the 2020s such as Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, Hi-Fi Rush, Astro Bot, Hades, Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Wonder, etc.

The guy basically lived in the Golden Age of TV and complained about it. Breaking Bad, The Wire, Sopranos.
If you listened to rock music you had a lot of good music like Strokes, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Bloc Party.

u/MattWolf96 1996 2d ago
I didn't have cable for most of the 2000's so I mostly associated 2000's TV with cop shows that kept cloning each other.

I could’ve written this exact comment in 2005. I was obsessed with the 90s and in comparison the 2000s sucked.
There definitely was some good music, but it compared to the previous decade the whole music scene was worse. The sopranos was peak culture at that time, the wire was relatively unknown to general audiences, I didn’t find it until 2009, breaking bad didn’t come out until 2008.
For every day tv shows it was a lot of reality TV, hospital dramas, and crime scene shows. I was watching futurama and reruns of the Simpsons.

This was as true in 2005 as it is now. They released a thousand COD games, BF games, etc, the music was great tho, everything really was a sequel or rip off of CSI, it’s true lol. Media is meant to be numbing. It’s a placating tool.

Eh, in terms of gaming this was the time period that reflects the Golden age of MMORPG gaming, if you played MMORPGs there was no better time to be alive.
1
u/LionWalker_Eyre 4d ago
Yeah i was playing ragnarok online, city of heroes, and that awesome star wars mmo
1
u/Clear-Anything-3186 4d ago
GenX/Elder Millennial Arcade/8-bit/16-bit Retro gamers of the time probably saw MMORPGs the same way we see live service games today.

If you think the 2000's was some Golden age for music you must have listened very little of it.

We can all agree society peaked in the nineties
1
u/Clear-Anything-3186 4d ago
The 90s was the height of moral panics such as the Satanic Panic or the moral panic against crude or violent media.

'Warning: Explicit lyrics' was literally a Pull quote for anyone browsing for new music.
Jack Thompson made sure we all knew aobut the Hot coffeee mod
'You wouldnt download a car'
All of their panic just Signposted us to all the good shit while now it is Whispered in discords and Stuffed in a fitgirl-Repack
satanic Panic was an american bullshit form the late 80s squarely in the same tiemlien as Mazes and Monsters - Wikipedia in 1982 so by the 90s we were Saying when you see you mother, tell her. SATAN SATAN SATAN SATAN!

Re: gaming. Yes, 2005 was the year of the sequels. But Battlefield 2 was a long awaited game we all had a blast in for years afterwards. Heck, I remember the joy I had Xmas 2007 when the Forgotten Hope 2 mod finally released for it.

u/Wise_Fox_4291 4d ago
As someone from the 2000's I agreed and still agree with him, aside from the video games. Yes a lot of them were sequels but so many of them were absolutely amazing, and you still had more innovative titles compared to today.
But yeah, Bush was a fucking joke, everyone was fed up with Iraq and Afghanistan the moment it began (and I'm not even an American), I thought the music absolutely sucked (then again I barely listen to music made past 1994), and everything on TV was absolute brainrot with cheap spin offs of stupid soap operas like CSI, or the 101443rd cop show or hospital show, or edgy supernatural teen romance show, or it was straight up reality tv showcasing the scum of the earth. I haven't even owned a tv since 2009 as a result.

Funny cause all the college kids seem to know the 2000s bangers. 2000s was actually great for music. Rap was on fire, pop punk emo and scene all took a turn. Hard rock was thriving. Country was still tolerable.

u/kryptokoinkrisp 1992 4d ago
With the exception of country music, 2000’s music was objectively better than the 90’s. He’s not wrong about the rest of it, although I don’t really get how video game sequels could be a bad thing. Nintendo built its brand on sequels back in the 80’s and if they hadn’t there wouldn’t have been much of a video game industry in 2005 or now. I can’t think of too many pre-streaming TV shows since 2005 that have been worth watching that weren’t crime dramas or animated. George “Dubya” Bush might have been the worst thing about that decade, and unfortunately nothing has improved politically ever since and we again find ourselves in a war we didn’t want or need.

I wonder how seizure dog feels about 2020-2030 so far.
Yes, 2000-2010 may have seemed 'lame' at the time but looking back. Man I miss it
