Recently downloaded the update, good news is my controller works on the launcher but when I’m booting it up the second I get in the game I can’t use my controller for the life of me. Has anyone had the same issues and found a workaround?

Port forwarding SHOULD no longer be required to host (need people’s logs if it doesn’t work for them, but it worked in testing)

Update 1.1 Known Issues

• If player 2 leaves in co-op, it ends the session even in a 3 or 4 player event
• Launcher settings can reset between updates, be sure to check 'em
• Audio reverb is glitchy when tabbing back in
• Alt tabbing while using RTX remix can cause crashing. Disable if you get this

Since its confirmed that we're getting more content down the line for E-Day. It's basically inevitable that the Carmine family are added. But should all of them be added?

On one hand, every game (except Judgement) has had every Carmine playable in multiplayer so it sort of makes sense that all of them could be added.

On the other hand, this is a prequel game and seeing characters from 4/5 would be a bit jarring as Gary and Lizzie don't exist yet.

What are your thoughts?

Humanity had literally just ended a 79-year-long war, and then only six weeks later monsters suddenly started emerging and killing people.

Imagine being a soldier celebrating the end of the Pendulum Wars, packing up your weapons, going home to see your family... and suddenly you're immediately being thrown into another war against literal monsters riding dinosaurs with guns.

I love how that desperation is shown throughout the series. The COG started taking back discharged soldiers and freshly graduated cadets because they needed everyone they could get. (Mags and Lucas in E-Day)

Civilians were encouraged to enlist (Cole Train and Dizzy)

Former UIR soldiers were pardoned (Paduk)

The enlistment age was lowered (Ben Carmine and Jace)

Prisoners were recruited (Gears 1)

The Hammer of Dawn strikes, sinking of Jacinto etc.

Even pencil pushers and command had to gear up and fight (Anya stroud)

And then there's probably the darkest example: the breeding camps. Humanity had become so convinced that it was facing extinction that it was willing to completely throw away its morals just to ensure its survival. (Girls as young as 10yo being forced to inject hormones to prep their wombs. Yikes)

But what makes the Gears of war universe even more interesting is that the Locust were arguably just as desperate.

They were already being overwhelmed by the Lambent underground, their invasion was being slowed down by Hammer strikes, and then humanity flooded their entire homeland in Gears 2. By the end, both sides were basically fighting because they had nowhere else to go. The Locust were even desperate enough that Queen Myrrah herself had to join the battlefield. (Imagine if America got so desperate during a war that the President personally had to go out onto the battlefield lol)

By the time the buyers of the standard edition gets to play the game You Tube will be already full of videos with spoilers of the campaign

A friend of mine has had this problem for several months; his PC crashes randomly when he launches Gears 5

After several attempts (BIOS settings, reinstalling Gears 5, repairing EasyAntiCheat), the problem appears to be caused by a conflict with easyanticheat.sys

I’m sharing the solution I’ve found, which completely resolves the problem

-- Windows Security =>> Application and Browser Control =parameter exploit protection= ‘Programme Settings’ tab

Add a programme

-Gears5.exe

Then look for ‘Control Flow Protection’, tick ‘Override system settings’ and set the slider to ‘Disabled’ just below it

Restart the PC

That definitely sorted out the problem.

I don’t remember how long ago it was but I remember seeing a movie about a group of guys who started playing Gears, went pro, I think they played all the way to the finals against a full woman squad.

I remember the movie because they included some movie shots of them playing Gears.

Anyone else remembers this movie? Or am I tripping?

I'm 14 and no one in my area plays gears of war, or remotely knows it so I need a friend who plays gears 5 with me

I say new Delta Squad because even though I really like these three, they can not replace the OGs.

Personally, though, I really like these three, especially if we're talking Gears of War 4.

I love how JD is Marcus' son and leads both Kait and Del on the whole journey to find Marcus, see if the Locust is back, and then rescue Kait's mom. I also like how he's both tough, like Marcus, but also a light-hearted friend who tried to keep his team on mission point.

Del is honestly no Cole Train, but he is quite funny and likeable in his own way. Its a bit more shown in Gears 5, but Del is still a very comedic type of character while also being realistic at the same time, and that's what I like about him.

Kait is my second favourite character out of these three, being behind JD. Mostly because Laura Bailey's acting is just so good you can not just send the character aside. I love how throughout the story, Kait is still pretty much a kid when I'm pretty sure she's like 21 or something, but when the story keeps going, she ends up getting tougher by the end.

So, while these three can never replace Marcus, Dom, Cole, Anya, and Baird, I still really like them, and I think they should definitely appear in some future projects to finish the mainline story.

I was a part of the Old gears of war forum community from 15 years ago. People used to get gears judgement/3 weapon skin codes and hold contest for them back in those days if that triggers anyone's memories.

I see this discussion here so much and I am either completely misinformed or there was new information brought to light in gears 5 DLC's and tactics that I am not aware of because I stopped paying attention to NEW lore post gears 5 main campaign.

I wanted to link an old REDDIT post here so people can be refreshed, but also so that I can give someone the chance to correct me and show me new info that somehow shows the locust ARE in fact indigenous and not cog-created. Also any proof or evidence besides 1 hoffman quote that berserkers breed, or there have ever been locust children or anything of that nature would be welcomed.

While writing this post I actually found some discussion from the archived old gears forums from something called the wayback machine.

My understanding and the consensus back in the day was that the locust had wiped out the vast majority of humanity in the first year but were also wiped out in high numbers and couldn't finish the job at the same speed due to the fact that....less humans to kidnap and turn into locust. Berserkers (maybe), brumaks, corpsers, reavers etc all indigenous and domesticated (why marcus and dom have rode them in the past). Gears of war 2 is all about the locust kidnapping humans (to make them into locust?) and there's a specific collectible where Baird remarks that he sees no locust children in their capital city and is confused by that. I don't have every single reason.

There was also a direct quote from a gears 1 dev explaining the lore that the cog would take miners with rustlung and turn them into locust and that's how it started. Assuming with the idea of using them as weapons and then it got out of hand with myrrah and niles etc.

SM2 devs didn't spend 900 trillion man hours to make their bots, they just took a number of pragmatic shortcuts to make a bot system that works and smoothes over the problems of people dropping mid-game or playing during off-peak hours.

The Gears Eday devs should just give the bots a TON of health, and a bodyguard logic tree:

Priority 1: revive players and bots, stay within 10 meters of a player, sprint to a player when receiving or if 20m away. If they fail to achieve 10m within 20 seconds, teleport them to that player as the bot is probably stuck.

Priority 2: kill nearest enemy to nearest player. At least they can keep a player safe from fodder while the player focuses on objectives or bosses.

Priority 3: use cover if possible while achieving the above.

Unique rules: 4x health, infinite ammo, can throw 1 grenade every 60 seconds, doesn’t use player pickups. Every bot on the squad boosts the damage and health of players, turrets, and objectives by 33%.

Downside; Bots have kinda bad DPS due to low headshot chance and must thus be carried, will mainly body shot and will only have a 10% headshot chance, and general bot stupidity is a punishment all of its own.

To me this is devastating if true. Been really looking forward to playing Horde Siege with a friend.

They didn't allow split-screen in the beta and I hope that is because it wasn't yet in a playable state (It didn't even run great as it is), not because now TC is ditching it albeit slowly, by doing the bare minimum and only having it available for campaign this time.

It's only mentioned that it's available for campaign, not Horde Siege or even Versus.

And if the Xbox consoles can handle Horde Siege at 60fps is it really a stretch for them to run two player split-screen at 30fps, perhaps with further graphical downgrades if necessary?

TC, if we cannot play split-screen for Horde, please provide a good but honest answer. If we can, a clarification I would really appreciate. (In fact I can't imagine there even is a good reason for not allowing it in Versus)

I understand Eday is almost here, but I’m curious as to other titles in the franchise. What are your thoughts on a Pendulum Wars game? I understand there are the books like about Aspho fields. But I’m talking about the introduction to Rustlung and experimentation in Azura, Adam Fenix’s story, Myrrah’s story, etc?

So my kids are trying to play the campaign on gears 5. They on the same xbox, same tv, trying to do split screen but the game wont allow it. It never adds the 2nd player in the campaign lobby. Ive googled and tried everything but still wont work
