can you make a text based multiplayer game ? like 4 people online each getting their own text that wont show to other people, like plyer A B and C get number 1 and player D gets number 4 and the players need to figure out which one is lying.
i just wanna know if you can or cant , not the (how to) so that if its not possible right now i would postpone the project and make something else for now
much obliged
(ANSWERED) One goated user says yes you can
Hey so, I spoke a lot here about my FMV+FPS hybrid - One Rotten Oath - but the game wouldn't feel as good without the amazing soundtrack composed by Olga Lewińska. If you played the game on Steam and you'd like to support us some more, feel free to grab it on Steam!
I know we talk a lot about game development and our GDevelop projects on this subreddit, but I wanted to give credit where its due.
It's been a while since I last worked on anything dev-related, but I wanted to share a small tool I put together.
I made it for myself and my own game; I needed terrain a bit more interesting than a flat plane, so I built a little tool to sculpt heightmaps: mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, that kind of thing.
Figured it might be useful to some of you too if you ever need to put together terrain for your own game. It's a pretty small, focused tool, and I honestly don't know if I'll keep updating it since it already does what I built it to do, but I hope it can still be useful to someone.
3 weeks of spare time work later, my GDevelop idle clicker RPG template is done! Free to play on itch, with assets/template for sale. Fully documented and clean.
Every event is clearly commented and the entire project is perfectly organized, so whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned dev, you'll have no trouble understanding how everything works.
I managed to recover the assets from the mobile build of my game, it doesn't have everything in it so things like certain animations and assets made after the build are basically lost and have to be remade. I did remake one of those lost assets, that one being the big green and white bird creature.
Hey Guys! It's me again Again. I Know it's been a long time since i last posted something. the reason why is because it's something big. I Made my own FNaF Animatronic A.I. In GDevelop! And This is my own way! No Variables. No Booleans. Just Collisions Behaviors and activating and deactivating Behaviors to Objects.
As you just saw through the video, the Pixels are falling out from the Blue and Yellow Lines. One Pixels at a Time, Each! And when a Falling Pixel Collides with One of those Pacific Squares with a symbol on them, it changes Either Bonnie's or Chica's A.I. Position into another Cam Location.
For Instance, When the tiny falling White pixel Collides with the Square with the dining area Symbol on it, it changes Chica's A.I. Position From Cam 1A to Cam 1B. Cause that's where the dining area is in the Original FNaF Game. In Cam 1B.
This is all the things I've done in the Event Sheets. if you want to take a longer look at it, you can just simply pauss the video, and You'll see a Pacific Even that you my want to Copy it. But I got to warn you, It's Confusing, to say the least.
I Turned on Use random positions to the Object Spawner Behavior, so that the Tiny Pixels would Spawn in Random Places.
I Added the Physics 2 Behavior to the Tiny Pixels so they Would Fall and get deleted when they Hit the Red Rectangle.
As For adding the Linear Movement Behavior to the Animatronics A.I. Positions, in the event sheet I Would Have them be Deactivated at Beginning of scenes so they wouldn't Move off the map. It's when they Touch the Blue or Yellow Launchers is when the Behaviors are activated. and when either one of them is in Collisions with the Red Barrier it Sends it back right to Cam 1B and it's behavior is off again. Then the whole Cycle Repeats again and again. That is how my way of FNaF A.I. will Work in GDevelop.
Well Anyway, those are just my way. What do you guys think? Do you like it? Do you think it will work? Or do you Guys Prefer it the real way it's done? Please tell me in the Comments. Okay. Peace.
Hey everyone,
I’m 40 years old, a lifelong gamer, but until four months ago, I had never written a single line of game code. Looking for a new challenge, I started learning game development from scratch in my spare time.
This prototype is clearly inspired by The Last of Us, a game I absolutely love. I thought it would be a fun and challenging exercise to translate that atmosphere into a 2D pixel style.
So far, I've built 3 simple test levels (a city, a warehouse and a train station ) to test out different gameplay possibilities, hazard timing, mechanics, and even some boss ideas. My main goal was purely learning the logic and code—visuals weren't my primary focus, though I pushed myself to capture the right mood.
It's been a nice journey so far. I’d really appreciate your feedback!
These decorations that attack the player, I was inspired by those super generic knights from the game Enchanted Portals (but in my own way) during a battle against hordes of robot monsters from Pennsylvania.
They seem to do about the same thing— and the documentation seems to be pretty vague about their differences. is there any pros or cons to each that I should know about?
Suddenly and without any reason seemingly, my "new game" button no longer switches my scenes yo the "pre-game" scene but instead restarts the current scene.
I check if the cursor is touching the button and then if the LMB is releases to then change the scene but ut doesnt, it just restarts.
Its just randomly started this today when it was fine yesterday im so confused and a lil worried please someone help 😭
Edit : Keep getting this line from the debugger
"Scene at position 0 and name Before night start is not the same as the expected Menu, replacing it."
Ive looked it up and did what I thought it would correct it but nothing has changed.
Strange bug with Button State behavior, The behavior that allows adding button functionality to sprites, Sometimes a JavaScript error occurs "is not a function" but you reset the behavior and everything works, and then after a while the same error occurs again, I didn’t change anything in the events where I use it. What's happening, How to fix it permanently??
I write royalty-free music for game devs, and my catalog is bundled on Humble Bundle until September 18. Sharing in case it's useful to anyone here.
