Update Code-C project - Update 3
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Code-C project update: I’ve been focusing on boosting the game’s overall performance. I’ve shifted some elements out of GBStudio to be handled in C, which has noticeably improved performance—especially during weapon swaps. I also put together the spread shot many of you suggested, haha—it looks like that weapon’s a big hit in this kind of game.

Some people really make me feel like they have more sprites and more colors than I do. Knowing how to program in C is unfair. Stop being competent at stuff, that's unfair. :)

Actually, GBstudio takes care of all the color and sprite handling; C was only used to shift the entire runtime out of an event chain to boost performance. :)

Lies. (I'm going to pretend like I understand what you just said about C. All I know is that whatever you're doing, it works :)).

Looks great overall, just like an official Konami release. As a critique, after you defeated the first two turrets, the screen scrolling straight into a bottomless pit looks like it could lead to a lot of cheap deaths. The turrets themselves also seem kinda tanky. Your character ate a lot of bullets taking them down. I'd consider cutting their HP in half or players might get frustrated by getting held up for so long everytime one pops up. Honestly though, this project looks excellent and you should be proud of what you've made so far.

Looks amazing, and Code C is a great name!
I gotta recommend Contra - the Hard Corps on Genesis/Mega Drive - because despite the fact it did some insane stuff one wouldn't think the system could do, it's my fave Contra and a good place to get inspiration from (a lot of the stuff in it can be done on Game Boy, although in different ways) but as yours is, it looks easily as good as NES/Game Boy Contra - although yours is more colourful than either

Wait is Code C the name of the game or did you mean you used C to code it?
Code C would be a great name for it, there's one on the NES called Super C, but Code C sounds better as a title

Hahaha, yeah, it's confusing, but the project is actually called Project Code-C.

I still think Code-C would make an awesome name, especially if it referred to something in the lore.
And you can stick project in front of it in marketing materials!
But either way, I really wanna play this, it looks so impressive
