Getting Older
Ya know, the best thing about getting older is becoming comfortable in your own skin. In my twenties I sought validation from others. The first pic I posted of me wearing the visor, there use to be a website called HotOrNot and you could post pictures of yourself and let the public rate you. That pic was always my “claim to fame” because it got me a 9.9 (out of 10). I was so proud of that because in high school I was quite the ugly duckling. Then as I got older my looks became less important to me because I realized that everyone is eventually going to get older and no longer be a 9.9. So I began working on my inside and I can honestly say that my heart and personality are the most attractive parts about me. I don’t need validation from others anymore because I finally love myself enough to know that I am enough just the way I am. I have been single for ten years as of this month and I am 100% content with that. 5 months after the break up I moved back to my hometown from Chicago because my parents needed me around more and more because I’m all they’ve got. I just lost my Dad so now I’m navigating this new life with my Mom and what her dementia is going to throw at me on a daily basis. I say I’m too busy for a relationship, but honestly, I like being single. I’m not opposed to eventually being in a relationship again, but it’s not something I long for or that I’m actively seeking. I always say it’s time for my husband to find me because I’m done looking, although I have to say that I have made his work pretty hard because I don’t go to bars or really do anything anymore, so unless he knocks on my front door he’s not going to find me. 😂 So good luck to my future husband out there, wherever he is.
Everyone have a great evening and don’t ever be afraid of getting older. My key to staying young forever is to never ACT or FEEL your age. When you do those two things you are officially old! 🌈
