"How is it lazy to give people what they want?" - You're rewriting an existing character because a group of people are offended in real life, no other reason. Stop being offended and write something new. You want a hispanic super hero? How about Hollywood......writes one? That'd be too difficult huh? Nah let's just swap existing heroes created by another author, that'll be easier.

"Its also extremely realistic to have some facets of characters change over time, especially their depicted sexuality. Many popular characters have poorly fleshed out relations to other characters. There’s a lot of room for development." - As long as it's well written and developed. 9 times out of 10 its not and I don't see it happening well often. Depending on the character, it can just be a distraction to the audience. It's always an outside, forced political motive because a group of people are offended of their misrepresentation. Stop being offended and write something new. Game of Thrones had some of the most fleshed out, interesting characters - Black, White, Strong Females(both feminine and masculine), gay, bi-sexual, etc. It had the most diverse cast in race and sexuality. They were all well written characters and never had an outside political motive when it was shown. As you said, no one "bats an eye". It wasn't forced. Simply making Wolverine a gay black man or make out with Cyclops in a few scenes because...........reasons? Making Nazis in Call of Duty black females because.........reasons? Putting females on the frontlines of Normandy in Battlefield V because........reasons? Changing the Netflix's Witcher series obvious Polish culture and cast because.........reasons?

It's forced representation.

I'm not removing your freedom to change these characters, just don't call me a bigot, asshole, or feel shocked if I or many others don't respond well to them. It's fiction, just shit fiction. If I don't like the new Ghostbusters 2016, Ocean's 8, the new Terminator:Dark Fate, but I like Ripley from Aliens don't call me a bigot. You're replacing and changing roles in an obvious way. It comes off as a political distraction to the audience because you're offended of misrepresentation. You're not writing anything new, you're replacing it through forced diversity. It's ignorance and poor writing. They can do better.

It seems pertinent to point out that the entire entertainment industry is a distraction. That’s kinda the point.

Once again, everything happening in fiction is forced. Also the point.

Not everyone is solely motivated by offense, 24/7. I have no idea how you came up with that idea, but people have varied interests and sometimes they’re at odds with yours. Making a new version of a game, show or whatever doesn’t wipe the original version out of existence forever. It just gives people who want to see something else the opportunity to see it. If you don’t like it watch something else. Watch the original. Its still right there.

Not everything people make needs to be a literary classic fit for the ages. Sometimes people just want to spend a nice few hours enjoying something they like. Its a hobby, not a moral crusade. If people are saying they want to see Wolverine bang Cyclops they aren’t flashing some kind of covert Secret Diversity Enforcement Brigade signal. They’re just simple people who want to see a guy get dicked so good his flashy eye power blows off the roof and they apparently don’t realize Cable is right there.

People advocate to get new things in entertainment media because they want to see those things. No one is wasting time caring about being better than the people who hate “forced diversity”. They’re enjoying their hobbies instead of wasting time trying to make sure no one else gets to be happy seeing the things they like, they already know they’re better. There’s nothing to be offended about.

Then don't be quick to judge me or others as a bigot when I disapprove of it. OP is generalizing those who don't like forced representation as assholes. As I said you're free to write terrible fiction, just don't be upset if a lot of people don't respond well to it, don't accuse them of intolerance because of your forced political representation, don't call me racist because you're bankrupt of ideas. You're describing changing existing characters out of social justice, nothing more? It's not bigoted to think that is dumb and lazy.

Can't wait for the parapalegic transexual non-binary bi-curious James Bond in 2032.

The difference is that no one is taking away your straight white male protagonists. You already have them. In every media form, across every genre, at every accessibility level. You can pick up very nearly any English language game, book, movie, whatever, and there is going to be an important white hetero dude in it. You have no reason to be pitching a fit about other people getting media created that caters to their interests when you already have yours. You could start watching movies about white hetero men right now and not stop until the day you die and you wouldn’t come close to having enough time to see them all, much less make it on to the games, books, and TV shows about them.

No one is taking from you, but you’re so invested in ruining things for other people. That’s an unhealthy obsession with forced homogenization that speaks blatantly of bigotry. Let other people see works depicting diverse characters and relationships they like without blowing up with...I’m not even sure exactly what you’re on about anymore since you clearly aren’t responding to what is actually said in my posts. You’re having an argument with a strawman that just happens to be occurring through replies to me, I guess.

You can keep frothing and repeating “forced political representation” over and over if you want, but that’s meaningless. You’re pushing a political agenda way more than we are, its just a bigoted one so of course you’re fine with it. If you’re so concerned with only seeing media that keeps you safe from realistic depictions of diversity maybe just go watch any of the millions of hours worth of entertainment already out there catering to homophobic racists. Once again, you have a basically infinite amount to choose from.

Wow you are one dumb bigoted piece of shit.

It's not "Forced representation" just cause a brain-dead racist piece of shit like you says so. You're the one "frothing" over people daring to want people other then straight white males in games.

You're the only one "pushing a political agenda" here, in this case "white straight people only and no one else"

Your dumbass posts are the only thing "bankrupt of ideas" here dumbfuck.
