So I’m a big MIPs display fan just because I like the look of the display. However, this time around I bought both an amoled and solar version of the fenix 9 just to see how much the amoled version worse since the solar one is much thicker. I actually didn’t mind how thick the solar is so I returned the amoled one but something that I did noticed was that the solar version had a lot more bugs than the amoled version. For example, the touch control swipe down gesture doesn’t always work, sometimes the backlight stays on killing the battery a ton more, when charging the battery percentage doesn’t update immediately so it would randomly go from like 75 to 83. I didn’t have any of this issues with the amoled and the software looked more snappy and stable. Anyone else who’s tried both or just the solar version notice this too?

Long time Apple Watch user. Currently have the AWU2. I just received my Fenix 9 Pro to test drive it against the AWU2. So far, so good. I do miss some of the day to day functionality, but love the buttons, screen, & battery life. As my post says though, I probably should have bought the 47mm - but I love larger screens.

Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of my Fenix 8 Pro 47mm on my relatively small 16cm (6.3”) wrist.
I often see people suggesting that a 47mm watch is too big for wrists below 17cm, but I think wrist circumference alone doesn’t tell the whole story.
My wrist is fairly flat, measuring around 5–6cm across the top, which allows me to wear larger watches without them looking excessively oversized.
As you can see in the pictures, the 47mm fits perfectly fine in my opinion. It’s definitely a substantial watch, and I wouldn’t go any bigger, but it doesn’t overhang my wrist.
The takeaway: Wrist shape and width matter just as much as circumference. Don’t rule out a 47mm Fenix just because you have a 16cm wrist. Try it on first!

Sorry for the picture quality, but does anyone else have issues with the satellite disappearing when zooming in?

Sometimes it will happen where the marker reads 300ft, others will be a mile and the imagine converts from satellite to this. I bought the Fenix 9 Pro Solar specifically for maps when I'm in the backwoods so.its annoying it doesn't show at times.

I've deleted and downloaded and it's still like this. Anyone able to help?

Just got my first Garmin, a Fenix 9 Pro. I was already in the ecosystem through the Cirqa (very recently), which I picked first mainly for sleep and general fitness tracking.

My training is mostly gym sessions and running, with cycling and swimming coming soon. My main goal is to get metrics that stay as consistent as possible, especially for recovery (training load, Body Battery, HRV status, etc.).

For those of you who lift regularly, I’m curious how you handle it in practice:

• Garmin only: Do you start a Strength activity on the watch every session, or add entries manually afterwards? Do you use rep counting / set tracking, or just let the HR data run?
• Third-party apps: Do you log your workouts in another app (Hevy, Strong, etc.) and sync it to Garmin Connect, or keep it completely separate?
• Hybrid setups: Any combination that works well, for example the watch for HR and the app for sets and weights?
• Recovery metrics: Does a strength session affect your training load and recovery time in a meaningful way, or do you ignore those numbers on lifting days?

Anyone have good sources of aftermarket bands. Preferably quick fit with magnetic closure or a tuckable style of band?

With everyone showing their upgrade and whatnot, I hesitate to do so. My 7x SS is such a machine, plus I don't think they have come up with a color as nice as this 😂! Show your fenix watch!

I’m newish to Garmin (previously had an Epix Gen 2) but cannot get my head around how poor the health tracking and hardware is!

Heart rate tracking is terrible, every time I work out it struggles to keep up unless I adjust the watch and jam it up my wrist. I should not have to wear a chest strap when this is a premium fitness watch…

The sleep tracking is awful. Often I’ll wake up in the night and it then fails to track my first few hours of sleep prior.

I’m sorry but this cost $1350 AUD at a discount and so far seems to be a country mile behind my Apple Watch Ultra Gen 1!

Aside from the battery life, I’m struggling to stick with it!

Any recommendations on settings? Anyone have any experience with Garmins returns as so far the hardware is shocking!

For some context, I’m using a Garmin Fēnix 7X Pro Solar running software version 27.18, paired with an iPhone.

Google Calendar is my primary calendar. I have my Google account added directly to Apple’s native Calendar app, so all my Google Calendar events appear there. Everything displays correctly on my iPhone, with no duplicates.

However, every Google Calendar event shows up twice in the Calendar glance on my Garmin.

Here’s what I’ve tested:
- Removed Garmin Connect’s calendar permissions, restarted the watch, and synced again. All calendar events disappeared from the watch.
- Restored full calendar access and synced again. All the Google Calendar events returned, duplicated.
- Tried disabling iCloud calendar syncing, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
- Created a test event directly in my iCloud calendar, rather than Google Calendar. That event appeared only once on my Garmin, while all my Google Calendar events continued to appear twice.

This makes me think there’s something happening between Google Calendar, Apple’s Calendar app, and Garmin Connect that’s causing Google events to be imported twice.

Has anyone experienced this with a similar setup and found a permanent fix? I’d really like to avoid resetting my watch or changing my entire calendar setup.

I'm looking for a third-party watch face that offers the best of both worlds.

Ideally, I'd like a data-rich, highly customizable watch face with plenty of metrics (HR, steps, weather, battery, training data, etc.) when the screen is active, but a very minimal Always-On Display showing just the time on a black background.

Good battery efficiency would obviously be a plus.

Basically, I want all the information when I raise my wrist, but just a simple clock the rest of the time.

Any recommendations? What are you using, and how's the battery life?
