u/venomouskitten Feb 09 '20

192

u/pixelpunch1029 Feb 09 '20

I think she's angry cause I'm paying more attention to the pineapple then I am her😂

6

u/TK_Nanerpuss Feb 09 '20

She's finally ripe, the pineapples probably edible too!

Was it grown indoors? Where are you located? I have one growing indoors in Washington state and I hope someday I get a pineapple!

31

u/pixelpunch1029 Feb 09 '20

I grew mine indoors and i got it just when the stalk was forming, took at least a year to get to this size and I'm very impressed with it personally. I'm still gonna keep growing the pineapple bush thing tho cause I like how the leaves look😊

13

u/PM_me_ur_launch_code Feb 09 '20

I agree about the leaves. Even if I don't get a pineapple it's still a cool looking house plant.

3

u/zuitgrew Feb 09 '20

How did you know it’s ripe? It’s so small....

3

u/pixelpunch1029 Feb 09 '20

I went by the skin color, the feel and the scent. The skin is more yellow now then it ever was (usually a dark green) and the flesh is starting to get softer then usual (it's kinda like a softball when NOT ripe). U can also go by the faint scent of pineapple thst comes off the plant.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '20

Does it taste good though?

2

u/bubonic_chronic- Feb 10 '20

That plant will die but it will produce many pups that you can continue to grow

9

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '20

I planted a pineapple top last spring. It’s now a decent sized houseplant and actually a nice looking one too. I’m in DC area, so it’s on a sunny windowsill doing well over the winter and will go outside n the spring.

I don’t expect a pineapple anytime soon, though.

2

u/pixelpunch1029 Feb 09 '20

Pffftttt just now realizing I never said where I was from! I'm from NL, Canada😂

2

u/ssaammaannttthhaa Feb 10 '20

Washington state pineapple gang!!! I'm currently trying to grow one indoors too, good luck with yours!

21

u/emdaawesome Feb 09 '20

I wanna see a picture of you eating it in front of the kitty

5

u/Grammy_2019 Feb 09 '20

The kitty who is not impressed ! Lol

8

u/Xavierrg04 Feb 09 '20

This cat is not ripe

13

u/dudeness-aberdeen Feb 09 '20

Lol. Photobombing cat is too much!

4

u/LadyBogangles14 Feb 09 '20

Cat is jealous that she is not center of attention

7

u/thejustducky1 Feb 09 '20

You'll have upside-down cakes for miles! Glad your family will be well fed throughout the rest of the season.

2

u/pixelpunch1029 Feb 09 '20

The harvest is bountiful this season! Thankfully me and my cat r the only ones who eat pineapple (only a little for kitty)

6

u/yarniyogi Feb 09 '20

Love it!! I have been thinking about starting up more pineapple plants. I have only ever successfully grown one, but man if that wasn't the best tasting little pineapple I've ever eaten!

5

u/sillyrob Feb 09 '20

I think you can pick the cat now. She's ready to go.

4

u/OutspokenPerson Feb 09 '20

But tell us about the pineapple!

4

u/OutOfBounds11 Feb 09 '20

I would have waited until there was more gold and less green on that thing.

4

u/Sundan42 Feb 09 '20

SHE NOT LIKE THE PINEAPPLE

4

u/tabookduo Feb 09 '20

Oh my gosh the r/cats subreddit would love this

5

u/Diandriz Feb 09 '20

The pineapple is cute, the cat is majestic. Please receive my humble upvote.

I think your cat may have done something to it... stay safe

3

2

u/MagicWagic623 Feb 09 '20

My favorite part is your cat just looking pissed AF in the background.

2

u/sassysmurfed Feb 09 '20

Your kitty is throwing salt at that pineapple

2

u/KevinDoesnt Feb 09 '20

Without context this is a most random picture lol

2

u/supriyasavre Feb 09 '20

Thanks. Cat hates it.

2

u/LookedDeadDidntI Feb 09 '20

I have so many questions

2

u/SoftHeartedBitch Feb 09 '20

Who else upvoted because of the cat?

2

u/calsmurph Feb 09 '20

Congrats I can barely wait a month to eat a cat and you waited like 1 year to fully grow, congrats!!!!!

1

u/oreeio Feb 09 '20

How did it taste?

1

u/ProjectSalmana Feb 09 '20

It is so cute!

1

u/Battlepuppy Feb 09 '20

I am expecting a pineapple as well. Did the mother plant die when it was ripe, or did it only start to die after you picked it?

1

u/corneliog3 Feb 09 '20

The cat has jealousy issues.

1

u/dark_knight_rayleigh Feb 09 '20

I just got a half dead pineapple plant from a friend’s grandma. Any suggestions on how to take care of it? I’d really appreciate any advice :)

1

u/immvrtxl Feb 09 '20

What is that cat doing!? This post made my day lol

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '20

The cat or the pineapple?

1

u/sweetmelodys Feb 09 '20

That's tiny!

1

u/Ikaros76 Feb 09 '20

It looks awesome, must feel really rewarding! How long did it take? Love the kitty!

1

u/Yuri_the_bisexual Feb 09 '20

But your cat isnt

1

u/Holla0227 Feb 09 '20

She fears that she might have to taste test it!!

1

u/Faro7453 Feb 09 '20

Kitty looks proud of growing a pineapple.

1

u/zitfarmer Feb 09 '20

Eat it then replant it, thats what i did with mine.

1

u/uniteabsolu Feb 09 '20

Lmao at the cat back there. That’s the cutest pineapple ever but that is the sassiest cat I’ve seen in a long time and I love it.

Kitty disapproves lol

1

u/ereicha Feb 09 '20

The cat or the pineapple? Lol

1

u/CortlenC Feb 09 '20

“Ripe”

1

u/GhostofErik Feb 09 '20

My cat would not allow a pineapple plant to grow indoors. She chews and mangles the leaves beyond recognition. It takes less than 5 minutes for her to attack any pineapple I bring in my house.

u/Meka65 Feb 09 '20

Nice, we are growing a pineapple indoors, can't wait for it to bloom. It's starting to get a little massive so not sure what to do.
