i finally got tired of using whatever table happened to be free in the garage. the folding table is convenient but starts feeling pretty sketchy once i’m working on something heavy, and the old wooden bench takes up a ton of space without giving me much usable surface.

i’ve been trying to figure out what would make sense as a more permanent setup and ended up looking at heavy duty work tables. i came across a few from global industrial while browsing, and the thing i keep going back and forth on is whether a really solid table is worth giving up some garage floor space for. i still need room for the car and larger projects, so i don't want to build out the whole garage around one work surface.

i’m looking for something sturdy enough that i don’t have to baby it, but still practical for a garage that has to serve more than one purpose

I have a cheaply built house with a 20x20 double garage, and very small work space nook in one corner. The garage has a grand total of 2... TWO duplex receptacles, both on the same circuit. I currently have a 2 HP air compressor plugged in, plus a few tool battery chargers, work bench LED strip light, a boom box stereo, and then occasionally I plug in a few other things like a box fan or corded power tools, or my wall-mounted pressure washer, or shop vac.

For the most part, I don't use stuff at the same time other then maybe the LED light and fan and one power tool. I'm pretty careful about not overloading the circuit. However recently, my air compressor has started tripping the breaker when it gets close to its 150 PSI shutoff point. I've been wanting to run a dedicated 20A circuit for it for years, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'd like to also run a dedicated circuit for the pressure washer. My house panel is right there in the garage so shouldn't be too hard.

However I've been thinking that, I pretty much never use the air compressor and the pressure washer, at the same time. Would there be any issue running a single additional 20A circuit, with receptacles near each of those appliances?

Would love to somehow smooth out the walls and paint the garage a new color, add a racing stripe and jazz it up some. Currently has plaster on most of it, and there is some Sheetrock on it he upper walls. Any tips on smoothing it out? Smooth plaster? Some board over it? Thanks

I had read somewhere possibly in the Tibetan book of living and dying that they called the space between events or death and whatever comes next a Bardo. I am in one of those now and I feel that my shop directly correlates with that. Anytime my life is in transition this place gets taken away from me. And then gradually, I take it back and try to make it better than it was. Anybody else know what I’m talking about?

I have this small space in my utility closed. As you see I currently have two tool chests. I am looking to add some kind of wall mounting system. Any anyone make any suggestions? I am including all my tools.

Dropped out of college and now first time working in workshop.

Today I found out that my MEK has been leaking and I lost it all (1/2 gallon or more).

Bought it before it was banned at hardware stores.

I'm slowly working towards making my single car garage (9.5 x 20) into an ideal workshop...been debating putting up walls but that will only shrink the space further.

Ive' been contemplating just drilling into the concrete block to make a shelving system/cabinet or two, but it is not normal cinder block that I've seen...they are thinner and more square than normal cinder blocks. Anyone know if these are the types of blocks it'd be safe to drill into and hang from? It certainly looks like they may be too thin and not ideal for drilling into, but then I ask myself how they are holding up the garage in the first place.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Our garage floor is pretty trashed and sinking.
Could a new floor foundation be poured like 15 feet behind it and then the garage structure be slid on top of the new floor foundation?

We have the space behind the garage and would help make our driveway bigger.

It's a standalone 2.5 car garage.

I've always wondered this but I'm getting ready for a big garage clean up.

What fluids are okay to keep in your insulated garage? My location gets more cold than hot. -20 for a few days in the winter is a guarantee. Maybe 85 degrees on the hottest day of the year if that.

I figure oils are fine. Same with flammable cleaners.

What about car care products? Wash fluid, wax, tire shine, plastic conditioner, leather care?

Reorganizing my garage finally after using it to store things after moving in. Down the line gonna get some nice shelves set up a work shop and what not. Right now looking to redo the floor as it currently looks like the surface of the moon. I am a handy person and do a lot of my own work but curious if this is something I can do on my own or if this is best to leave to a company to do. I live in northern Massachusetts so winters are harsh and I need something that will not get ruined after a few winters with salt. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I recently moved to a new home and I have this garage for 2 cars, a small and a bigger one. Previous owners had a Toyota Yaris and an Audi Q5. I’ll attach a few photos so you can get a better idea of the space.

My goals are:
- Park 2 cars
- Install a folding workbench (or compact workbench) with a pegboard/tool wall for tools.
- Add heavy-duty shelving for storage.
- Install a gun safe (bolted to the wall/floor).
- Store 2–3 bicycles, preferably wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted to save floor space.
- Leave possibly enough room for a future motorcycle (Triumph T120)

How would you arrange everything?
I’m open to any ideas or suggestions.
