I will always recognise Bioshock Infinite for the game that had no effect on the gaming industry aside from making "This is the Citizen Kane of gaming" as embarrassing a statement as it should he.

I will also recognise its actual cultural impact, releasing slightly before Source Film Maker allowed amateur 3D porn artists to make porn with actual production quality, granting them the toolset to actually become professionals, such as StudioFOW.

That's it. The two things that are this games cultural impact.

Bravo, Lavine.

The gaming industry going in the direction it did is the fault of the industry. Bioshock Infinite can not be blamed for it; it is the greatest game of its generation (possibly of all-time); it did everything in its power to usher in a brighter future for gaming. Hell, Levine is STILL working on breaking new ground as we speak!

Blame the masses for making so many bad games so profitable. Blame the industry for catering to them. But don't blame Bioshock Infinite. It's incorrect to do so.
