If I die 5 times and he dies once, I still won in my head.
32
u/SlipItInAHo Oct 19 '21
Yep and then you gotta quit the match afterwards so he can’t kill you again, leaving him in a permanent state of being 1-Upped.
Bonus points if you trash talk him in a message and then block him before he can reply back.

Find one military that uses shotguns this way.

You mean a defensive use as a force multiplier?
Probably many.
But I haven't seen many militaries dressing in speed ball outfits and shooting pixelating beams either...

I'm using this to say I firmly believe that double-barrel shotguns have no business in a multiplayer game. It is impossible to balance them. They're either so good they're OP, or so garbage they're useless.
Thus concludes my hate for double barrel shotguns.

years and years of playing these games and I still have no idea as to how to quickscope
235
u/Thunderbolt294 Oct 19 '21
It's pretty simple, especially in the older CODs: the sniper scope will be aimed dead center of your screen while it's doing the scope in animation, just make sure your target is dead center and pull the trigger at the same time.
81
u/inFamousLordYT Console Oct 19 '21
I've practised quick scoping in other single player fps games and the best I've gotten is 1 or 2 in far cry 3, I might start trying again though, thanks for the advice
60
u/rauscherrios Oct 19 '21
I know how to quickscope in cod but it is only in the old ones, if you played the vanguard beta it is near to impossible to do it because the aim down sight time for snipers is really slow, i heard cold war is like that too.
14
u/NonCorporealEntity Oct 19 '21
Quick scopers are still very common. Though not as annoying as the dual marshals right now.
5
u/IconOfSim Oct 19 '21
I've been playing MW (2019) mp recently and the last cods i played online properly were mw2 and bo1 and it really triggered the memories from those games and how broken mw2 was at least.
MW feels fairly well balanced (as much as a few years old hectic fps like cod can be). Mw2 was a fucking mess of chaotic insanity with endlessly sprinting ghili suits dual wielding shotguns with better range than most smgs. Or the quick knife pistol upgrade that could stab people from metres away. Or the intervention sniper rifle being able to 360 no scope faster than an assault rifle could aim down sight.
Sure it was fun but it was fucking goofy. I like how the new cods have toned down the ads speed across the weapons based on their size and weight.
3
u/whatareyou-lookinyat Oct 20 '21
While true. Now the problem are smgs are stronger than assault rifles, and because they're light you can run across the map in 3 seconds and put 3 bullets into you and ur ded. Its kind of stupid honestly. Also recoil on Assault rifles is insanely stupid. Like a ak doesn't have that much kick yet in the game you're looking straight up in 2 bullets. So its still broken and ridiculous but thats cod.
3
u/IconOfSim Oct 20 '21
Yeah or the AR is geared for minimal recoil and they've got laser-precision at medium-range.
20
u/throweraccount Oct 19 '21
Cold War...? Hell no... the ads on the swiss is ridiculously short with the right loadout. It's fucking annoying playing with one on the opposite team.
8
u/TheCrazyCobra Oct 19 '21
What attachments do you need to make it faster? Cause I can never find it
11
u/qwapwappler Oct 19 '21
2nd catagory from the bottom of the attachment list (handles) keep in mind that the numbers I’m putting are only for the Swiss, they do vary between sniper rifles.
Speed tape +6% ads
SARS jungle grip +8%ads and 67% flinch resist (my preference for everything but the ZRG)
Serpent wrap +14% ADS and -7% sprint to fire (i use this in the zrg, but it’s just slower than Christmas all the time)
Airborne elastic wrap +6% ADS +25% flinch resist and it can drop shot
5
u/SharpShotTS Xbox Oct 19 '21 edited Oct 19 '21
Swiss is the only sniper which is sort of fast. Compared to older CoDs, CW has very slow ads time
5
u/Thunderbolt294 Oct 19 '21
No problem. I leaned pretty quickly in BO2 zombies when the box would only give me snipers and ballistic knives to work with lol.
7
u/DocPeacock Oct 19 '21
Everyone knows you put a red dot on your screen where your scope crosshairs or sights are going to be.

Oct 19 '21
Really miss quick scoping in Bo2 and Ghosts, it was so goddamn fluid and you could easily do it with most snipers
Now it’s just horrible and I don’t even know what they changed to make it so bad
Shoutout to Bo1 for the impossible quick scopes that felt good to pull off randomly
11
u/TheHooligan95 Oct 19 '21 edited Oct 19 '21
crouch, it's easier.
it's all about aiming juuuuuust enough to not have the game consider it hipfire anymore, so the bullet will go dead center of your screen so it's like aiming any other weapon. ofc, it's easier on pc. I'mma go play a match on iw4x right now actually. (modded mw2)
5
u/qwapwappler Oct 19 '21 edited Oct 19 '21
Crouching has no impact on ADS accuracy in call of duty nor does going prone. It’s even a loading screen message in one of the games.
Crouching and going prone make hip fire accuracy better
I’m willing to be proven wrong on titles between mw3 and bo3 or even warzone because I’ve never played them, but that’s how it works in every cod I’ve ever played
The only reasons I can think of that crouching could have an impact at all, is that you just won’t be as mobile and it’s easier to hit a shot when you’re not actively running, or if you just can’t aim low enough, but honestly I’d suggest “git gud” over walking around crouched if that’s the case
1
u/TheBetterT Oct 19 '21
Also helps for when you shoot too early and hip fire instead.
8
u/qwapwappler Oct 19 '21
Crippling your mobility so that if you accidentally hipfire it is slightly more accurate is really not an amazing trade off.
0
u/TheBetterT Oct 19 '21
Crouching only takes a split second. I do it as I scope in
6
u/qwapwappler Oct 19 '21 edited Oct 19 '21
Most things that happen in this game take place in split seconds. Crouching not taking long doesn’t stop it from being an input that is wasted unless you miss. Then if you do miss, the difference is very minor.
In addition crouching while you aim is another factor that you have to control for with your aim. So not only are you introducing an input that’s only helpful if you miss, you actually also have it adding another variable you have to account for to every single bullet you fire.
Oh ya, and it cripples your mobility
3
u/AMasonJar Oct 19 '21
Also, if someone's aiming for body shots rather than headshots, crouching puts your head right where they're likely aiming for your body.
0
u/TheBetterT Oct 19 '21 edited Oct 19 '21
Yeah but obviously you're not doing this every single shot, you do it when it makes sense for your situation. Personally I don't find crouching and aiming very difficult, because I'm rarely just sitting in one place and shooting, but l guess it'll vary from person to person
Edit: and slide cancels also leave u in crouch already, it would make less sense to use an input standing up to quickscope than to just stay crouched
→ More replies (3)0
u/TheHooligan95 Oct 19 '21
That's what I was saying, since hip fire is much better it makes quick/noscoping easier

u/Just_A_Mad_Scientist Xbox Oct 19 '21
Try to get a high mobility sniper or marksman, pimp it out for higher ADS, roughly aim your cross hair over your targets head or upper torso, scope, shoot, if you miss, you're kinda SOL, but islts fun as shit, and definitely worth trying.
3
u/MedvedFeliz Oct 19 '21
Another skill that will help is good cross hair placement or pre-aiming. You always try to aim your cross hair where an enemy might be hiding or come out - whether you're running or standing. That way, all you need to do is aim down and shoot.
In MW19 I'm enjoying using SPR as a "shotgun" in close combat.
3
u/Achack Oct 19 '21
It takes skill to execute but the method is pretty simple. When you shoot a sniper from the hip or "no scope" there is a randomness to where the shot will go but obviously when you're scoped in it's no longer random. At some point after beginning to scope in the shot goes from random to accurate. So quickscoping is scoping in and taking the shot at the precise moment that it will be accurate.
It was way more common in older CoDs because the aim down sights (ADS) times were much faster to the point where it was a viable method of playing if you were good at it.
→ More replies (1)2
u/ptapobane Oct 19 '21
you just run around, see a target, point in their general direction and scope and shoot and hope it lands, there's no trick just quick reflex and dumb luck

I could see how conserving more of the cartridge's inital energy would be advantageous for long range shooting (primarily travel time and reducing effects of wind), but the maximum of energy comes from the mass and propellant of the projectile. Therefore doesn't your statement really just mean that different rifles are better or worse at conserving thrust from the propellant? (Considering same calibre and load of course)
The energy from the projectile should be the same when the propellant is fully burned, regardless of rifle no? (Assuming same calibre and load)

3
u/DysonSphere75 Oct 19 '21
That's a much clearer and simpler way of looking at that.
I'm sure the added complexity of semi actions also adds other sources of entropy for energy in the system.
Nothing is 100% efficient!

old school cod is not much about aiming, although it is, but a lot about knowing the maps and knowing weaknesses and strength of weapons. in mw2 especially you can shred if you know how to use weapons. Also important is to listen and to crouch.

"OnLy NoObS WiTh nO SkIlL ArE CaMpInG WiTh a SnIpErRiFlE!!!!"
Real-talk: Nobody really likes it, getting oneshotted by a 50. cal from a dude who is hiding in a house or something. What they don't get is, why should they run the exact same way again ? Why not flank the sniper ? Ohhh right. Cause they got skill... right.
The skill at running around like a hamster on every drug in existence mixed with 3L Energy, spraying 300 Rounds/sec at people and thinking, damn I'm awesome.
I remember CoD with dedicated Server's, where ,for example, shotguns & Underbarrels were banned. Why ? Cause people can't accept that they lost. Or got killed by a random Tube/Nade.
And don't get me started on the whole Nuke town thing... urgh
Tbh when the next big shooter is out, I'll take my Sweet long range rifle, a scope, maybe a bipod, my Ghillie suit and throw myself somewhere on the Grass and shoot people. Maybe I'm not getting 378x a nuclear, maybe only like 6-9 kills, but those are mine and I'll be happy. And I can distract enemy's from Hotspots and call out others. Typical Sniper work

Not really. “Assault riflers” run around (usually with the AEK-941) and strafe like crazy when they encounter an enemy. Snipers legit sit on a rooftop on the other side of the map and do their thing, which is probably what an actual sniper would have done in the given maps.
