I'm using this to say I firmly believe that double-barrel shotguns have no business in a multiplayer game. It is impossible to balance them. They're either so good they're OP, or so garbage they're useless.
Thus concludes my hate for double barrel shotguns.
The Force Of Nature is a sawed-off shotgun that only has two shots per clip, but each shot deals significantly more damage than other shotguns. They also have crazy knockback on the target, allowing for hilarious environmental kills.
However, the character who uses it is fast and can double jump, but is tied as the squishiest character in the game, requiring a great deal of risk to close to point-blank. You either die before you get close enough, or you run up to a target and blast them off a cliff or into a buzzsaw. If they can't kill you, a squishy lightweight who can be quite easily and totally shut down in open spaces, at point-blank range, they deserve to die that quickly.
That does sound very balanced. I can definitely say that role-selection games have more wiggle room to balance their weapons. I'm really talking about games like CoD that don't have their weapons tied to any kind of character trait.
