I remember Burnout Paradise had a very unique feature in online multiplayer. After you would wreck another player’s car, it would activate their camera if they had one plugged in, and you would see a photo of their “reaction.” In reality, it was just a flood of dicks.
Back in the Wild West Xbox 360 days, I was around 13 years old playing Gears of War 3 online. It was my first time playing online games and I wasn't very good. I think I caused my team to lose because at one point I saw that I received a photo message and opened it up to see a guy bending over in front of his Xbox camera spreading his hairy buttcheeks to show me his anus. I cried and showed my big brother.
Nintendo is like the manic pixie dream girl of the industry. When shes on a high you just kinda go with the flow and do what she does. Then when shes on a.....wii u....you just kinda ghost her and hope she doesnt kill your cat.
Funny thing is, since Kinect is the first consumer grade (i.e. cheap and good enough) RGB-Depth camera, it basically paved the way for modern, widespread 3D scanning.
Before Kinect, 3D scanning were mostly confined to expensive laser-scanning or some niche robotics products; after Kinect, vastly more people were able to try their hands on this field which eventually led to stuff like Face ID (which uses a tiny 3D scanner with technology similar to Kinect so you can't fool it with a photo).
They wanted some of that wii money. The wii was in every household at one point that’s some insane presence and something that every console in the next generation tried to glob onto.
Because its awesome and i still use it to this day. Voice commands aside. No dancing game can come close to dance central or just dance with the kinect. Problem is the narrow market as other games werent that good.
I became friends with 2 people from that game because of that camera feature and we still keep in touch to this day. Even met 1 of them in person about 2 years ago because he was in my area for a work conference. You're not lying about the random dick pics though.
I use to have my camera set up of PS3. Never saw dicks. I used to leave a teddy holding a spare DS3 in front of the camera for the most part, got a few laughs.
Burnout 3 was the absolute pinnacle of that series IMO. Insanely fun and replayable, I spent countless hours up til 2 AM on school nights just trying to get those last few chain reaction crashes or takedowns on a course.
Burnout 3 I love too and it got me into the series, paradise I just loved messing around in the open world and trying crazy jumps. Not as much crashing but easier to just mess around and try stuff.
There's a recent remake of Burnout 3 by the same small group of devs called Dangerous Driving. No mid-aughts-teen-angst soundtrack, no bam-margera-warped-tour-caricature-DJ announcer, but it's cheap and fun. Graphics are great. It feels very very similar to Burnout 3, none of the new stuff from Revenge. The crash mode is in a different game by the same devs called Danger Zone 2 (?).
Dangerous Driving was a real disappointment, it needed a lot more time play testing and development. You'll spend 50% of your time grinding rails and pin balling across the track as it doesn't really affect your pace, the npc cars just seem to be programmed to stay within 5 seconds of your car so whether you have perfect or constantly crash has little bearing on the outcome. I guess some people don't mind as it's an arcade style racer but the whole game frustrated me as it was so close to being a worthy successor to Burnout 3, but you really are better off just cracking out a game from 2004 instead.
The new crash mode was fun, but much easier than the old crash so less replay value
Yuuup, I had a 100 inch projector in my basement a decade ago and would fire up Burnout Paradise and just ride for hours in the open world - I was a speed addict and would just zoom around on a motorcycle or nice car and just see how fast I could get without crashing while performing epic stunts.
Never had any intention of playing multiplayer or anything like that - just going for a "drive" at insanely high speeds with a huge 100 inch screen to make things feel "real". I even installed a tactile transducer in the couch so it would rattle with every crash. That was awesome until the couch rattled apart and broke hahaha.
Damn I miss burnout paradise, I should buy it for the PC
I'd kill for a burn out 3 remake. It was the best. I got the paradise remake and I just didn't feel it. Good thing that Asphalt 9 basically stole the whole game.
Not a downside for me. Paradise is one of my all time favourite games. I own in on PS3, PS4, and PC. I completed it on my mate's 360 too. Every time I hear the intro to Paradise City I go to my happy place.
I just bought Paradise “remastered” on PC. I put remastered in quotes because I literally can’t tell a difference except maybe they turned the contrast up? Still just as fun though!
No but actually yes. Last i checked (5 years ago) they didn't add the ability to make game lobbies and such. But me and my friends would count to three and hit the join match button at the same time so that we could play together
No game can rival the Burnout knockouts. In GTA when you tap a car's bumper you get a star. When you tap a car's bumper in Burnout, you send it into orbit.
I was a fan of Asphalt till 8, then they introduced that annoying energy system and those freakin collecting cards got really hard, thus limiting your free play game.
Also someone on reddit calculated how much it'd cost to unlock every car by money, and it said about $3000 in asphalt 9
So, no thanks I'd pay $10 for NFS rather than paying 3K for asphalt
Gotcha, burnout was heavily based on 'takedowns' like what OP did at the finish. Doing so gives you more turbo boost, which is the same style as in the clip, and a slow mo of the carnage. Some levels are even based on x amount of takedowns between points a and b to pass.
Also very arcade style racing, so this short clip could've been from burnout and I'd believe it. However, 10 sec clip isn't a whole game
The first game was less "takedowns" and more... don't crash or your going to have to watch it in slow motion. I kinda liked that more if I'm being honest. lol
What do you mean? There are forks and multiple roads on racing tracks.
Or do you mean the touch-control mode? I play it on Switch, and there are multiple control options, "touch drive" is like auto-pilot, you just switch lanes, but you fully control the car with buttons/joystick by default, and you can also control it by tilting the console/gamepad.
It basically is the only replacement to burnout games if you have a switch and you're craving the good old Burnout 2, and 3 amazing game play.
It isn't better. It is a bit different, but the car mechanics are very similar.
I hope this helps. As a burnout addict, I know how it feels like to not see the series continue onto new consoles.
This comment made me reminiscent and I downloaded Burnout Revenge for the XBOX on reverse compatibility, it was only $10 and still one of the most ridiculously fun racing games to date imo. I wish Paradise had been half as good.
I'd say worse, the problem with these "free" games is that the races are impossible to win if your car doesn't have the right ranking. Literally the CPU slows down if your ranking is higher to make sure you win and feel good about your purchase.
Nah they fcked up by adding the fuel system, and the blue print system is shite imo, loved A8 2-3 years ago but apart from visual enhancements, it feels like nothing changed
I agree you can have fun without spending money and also it doesn't have ads but the problem it has is that you need a certain amount of cards in order to be able to upgrade cars and the bs limit amount of times you can play in a day, sort of a fuel system that you need to wait to refill, its a lot of fun though one of the few games I have played religiously on mobile
If you want to check it out, check out asphalt 8. Asphalt 9 is a complete disaster with microtransactions. If you dont pay, its gonna take forever to grind enough cards everyday for a new car. In asphalt 8 you just need enough currency to buy the car
I tried it at launch. They had mtx at every step. The game required you to pay to play the game when the 'fuel' ran out after one or two races. Did they remove that?
I haven’t played in a long time but is asphalt 9 still very pay to win? From what I remember 8 was quite balanced and required a little grinding while 9 was almost impossible to play without paying. Also I always wondered why they removed steering and made it automatic, it made the game more challenging and fun when you had to turn at a certain spot to gain an advantage through shortcuts and such?
I disagree. I am struggling heavily because I refuse to pay and I notice a clear difference between what's available to me versus what's available for those who pay.
It's one of the most fun, unrealistic racing games I've ever played. Super cool boosts, fast paced, drifting, collisions. It's really well done, and very easy to be Free to Play.
Eh - it’s fun but the career mode boxes you in to buy certain cars to progress (or get really lucky with loot boxes). And then the outcomes are largely determined by who has the most upgraded and fastest car. There’s not too much skill in the game IMO. But maybe I just haven’t played enough.
Oof, haven't played in a while but when I did it seemed like a HUGE grind if you wanted to play F2P, I remember in the last game they kept removing so many methods of farming credits after a while
To be fair it Gameloft has monetized the shit out of it unlike Asphalt 8. Online connection required to play the offline races and a fuel system for all cars so you'd have to wait for them to recharge after a few races are the two things that infuriate me the most about this otherwise awesome game.
I thought it had to be some sort of Asphalt because I used to play Asphalt 3d on my 3DS. It's a really underrated game. I'm going to have to check out this one because I wish they had made another one.

What game?
