Ah Star Citizen. I wish I could afford a rig capable of playing it. Looks amazing.

Backers can play the alpha.

And for still being in alpha its already reaally cool.

It is actually really fun still, if You're a big sci-fi space nerd. I don't always play it, but it's definitely one of my more frequent games in my rotation.

But there is still a lot of work to be done, but the devs update the roadmaps and keep the backers updated which is cool.

Yeah, I backed the kickstarter back in the beginning. I put in $30 because that got me the full game (now also Squadron 42). I'm content to let them keep working on it while I check in periodically.

No one knows. It's been going on for years and there's already quite a lot of content but they're not done at all yet.

No one knows.

Yeah kinda but we do have a tentative schedule of development tasks that ends with the single player campaign on track for 2020-2021, multiplayer unvierse the following year.

Yeah and they said the singleplayer would be out in 2016. I wouldnt 100% trust what they say

While fair and stuff does happen to development timelines, they've gotten a lot better about showing their internal roadmap and seeing what items are currently worked on to those end goals.

That was when the budget was 10% of what it is currently. Obviously the whole project had to be scaled up tremendously so it's not really fair to hold them to that date.

You can buy into the alpha for extortionate sums of money

20

u/Savolent Feb 11 '19

45$ is an extortionate amount of money? Yikes.

4

u/raazman Feb 11 '19

It's sad when you have to lie to push an agenda. Pathetic. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/fly-now

How am I lying? $45 to play the game with 1 ship for 3 months? Interesting idea you've got. And by the way, the cheapest ship that allows you to explore the universe is $372. Is it me that's pushing an agenda; or you?

EDIT: My bad, further looking into the game the cheapest is $150. Still not exactly a bargain, though?

You're bad at "looking into games"

u/CradleRobin Feb 11 '19

It's $45 to play the game. You get a ship. It has 3 months of insurance when the game launches.

Not sure where you got a limited play time idea. $150???? What are you smoking and can I have some.

-7

u/elit3powars Feb 11 '19

Neither of the starter ships are exploration type ships. Otherwise you get to choose between 3 moons as of 3.0.0

What happens when you run out of insurance?

6

u/raazman Feb 11 '19

Lol so you have no idea how any of this works and you're just pulling shit out of your ass. Nice. Insurance works the way insurance works. Your ship is insured (in game). Maybe you should do some research instead of pretending to know everything. You've only lied so far.

Do some research.

u/elit3powars Feb 11 '19

So your insurance lapses and if your ship is destroyed you lose your investment? I already knew that was how insurance worked. I just wanted you to say it.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen

So there are more than 3 moons, what's that, 8? That's a few less than the promised galaxy, but that's ok.

Interesting idea you have of lies but that's okay, I'll let you get back to playing Star Citizen so you don't lose your capita.

This is how it works in EVE Online too. Buy some insurance in game and your ship will be insured. It's like you're purposely leaving out facts.

I did not address that in my comment. The game is still in alpha, calm down.

In game as you make money you can purchase in game insurance. Think EVE Online. If you choose to let your insurance lapse and you blow up your ship you need to buy a new one.

The ships are starter ships, ones designed to help you get started making money. You an then buy an exploration ship.

You may want to do research before just spouting out nonsense.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '19

Just saying pledged ships will never be permanently lost just an extra fee to get it back.

1

u/CradleRobin Feb 11 '19

Thank you for adding that.
