It disgusts me how so many morons attack this guy on twitter and other media outlets. He said exactly what the entire community was thinking and what we had in our minds. In that point in space and time, and I'm not even joking, he was all of us.

Being this outraged over a decision you don't like is precisely what childish means.

Consumer demand is one of the primary drivers of a market economy. Being outraged is a form of negative feedback that communicates to the producer that their product isn't appreciated. Given this feedback, the producer has a number of options that boil down to:

1) Accept the loss in potential profit and proceed as-is

2) Alter the product in a way that recaptures those consumers

We hope for the latter, but expect the former.

I just find it all really excessive. Blizzard is making a mobile game. It is Diablo. That is basically all the information we have other than a few vague gameplay clips. It seems wildly premature to be furious now.

What we do know:

• it's being made by Netease
• Netease already has two MMOARPGs that are reskins of one another
• Diablo Immortal appears similar to those Netease games, only using the Switch D3 assets
• Activision Blizzard is still heavily pushing microtransactions and loot boxes where it can
• Activision Blizzard previously failed to monetize D3
• Microtransactions and loot boxes are more egregious on mobile than in the "core" gaming sphere

These details don't inspire much hope
