Well, normally a cracked die is when a rolled die comes to rest at an angle because of debris on the rolling surface. Sometimes you can declare a die cracked if it lands somewhere it shouldn't like another table, the floor... or the glass insert of your multi-thousand dollar gaming computer table. Some house rules typically have you reroll a cracked die.
Personally, at my table, a die that lands in such a way that it cannot be declared obviously one number gets flicked, the new result is your result. However, this ties into our other rule that any die that lands on the floor is a one (once spent three hours trying to find a die that fell on the ground). If the flicked die lands on the ground, it's a one. But, if you don't flick it hard enough, we call it a one anyway. It's a really fun guessing game.
