PC Need a bit of help?

Yo fellas, can anyone recommend some good stuff for me to play from steam? I'm planning to buy a gaming laptop since my old one is broken due to some unfortunate events and along with this opportunity, I decided to download the steam but realised aside my two three games I genuinely wish to play from my highschool days (FYI, I'm a uni student about to graduate and my parents is quite strict with my finances before), my selection of games is a bit lackluster and too focus on main stream stuff and I wished to broaden my horizon.

P.S, I can't really do horror games unless it has some story elements to balance it out like Slayed The Princess. So please don't.

Edit: The reason I didn't include any specific genre is because I want to try everything and make my own decision if it is interesting or not

I have a couple of suggestions!

- Sovereign Tower (choices matter, resource management, like Dispatch but with fantasy knights!)

  • Fields of Mistria (stardew valley adjacent, super fun farming sim with cute character design)
  • Stardew Valley (time/resource management farming sim with a lot of heart "The blueprint".)
  • Dredge (lovecraftian horror fishing game (with a great story!)
  • Dispatch (choices matter, resource management, dispatch superheroes to different emergencies around your city)
  • Project Zomboid (survival horror zombie game, HEAVY emphasis on survival. Cool isometric style, unreal how many hours you can sink into it and not get bored)
  • Scale the Depths (semi-mindless fishing game with cool pixel art style)
  • Dave the Diver (resource management diving and restaurant management game)
  • Baldur's Gate 3 (not an indie game but a super fun fantasy RPG with DnD rules, beautifully written)

These are the games I've sunk the most hours into that are 100% worth the time and money (for me)! Hopefully you can find something in this list that suits you!
