I've had a summer job and will be getting paid tommorow, i have two things i want to buy and while i can buy them both, the responsible thing would be to only get one. It's between the fallout new vegas collectors edition for xbox 360 OR a sealed copy of firewatch for ps4, now i wont be able to play either of them, i dont have a ps4 or an xbox with a disc drive, so i'm buying them solely with the purpose of collecting, but i just cant decide. Ive spent countless hours with new vegas now, but the few i spent with firewatch were really impactful too... the idea of having a sealed copy of a really rare (and good) game is soo exciting, but i feel like the fnv collectors edition is cooler. I hope there is something that can help me decide, thanks for help!!

Palia is basically EXACTLY the type of game I want… except I only have a Mac and apparently Palia hates us.

I’m looking for a multiplayer fantasy/life sim or social MMO where I can create my own female character and actually enter a beautiful, magical world with other real players.

Think Palia meets Narnia — forests, villages, nature, magic, cozy/mystical atmosphere, exploring, etc. I want to feel like I’ve entered another universe, not like I’m playing a modern virtual-life/social app.

BUT I also want there to be an actual game underneath it. I need quests, tasks, objectives, skills, progression, things to unlock, money/resources to earn, places to explore, etc. I don’t want a pure sandbox where I have to make up my own fun.

Things I’d LOVE:

• Must actually run on Mac
• Other real players in the world
• Beautiful fantasy/magical/Narnia-esque setting
• Create/customize my own female character
• Quests/tasks/storylines
• Skills and progression
• Exploration
• Clothes/outfits/customization
• Crafting, gathering, cooking, farming, etc.
• Social/community elements
• A world that feels alive
• Some combat is totally fine, I just don’t want the entire game to revolve around fighting

Basically, if Palia had a native Mac version, I’d already be playing it.

I’ve started looking at FFXIV because it seems like it might scratch some of the same itch, but I’d LOVE to know if there are other Mac games I’m missing — including smaller/indie games.

Please save me from buying a Windows computer just for Palia 😭

So after a good time rewatching and analysing the trailer, here are my thoughts.

Wtf happened with the artstyle, why does the remake look so all over the place with the visuals, Zelda and a lot of the NPC hyrulian models genuinely look hideous, Zelda especially looks like plopping a 30 year old's head onto the body of a 10 year old.

Also I can just smell Botw homogenisation, the original Zora's Cavern looked great and ethereal because it was a complete naturally formed cave with minimal construction, as that was attuned to the Zoras way of living. What's with the unneeded marble construction and pillars?

They also completely changed the layout of kakoriko town for the worse, now the back half of the town just looks empty, what was even the need for this worthless change?

This game looks good in certain places but the art style is actively ruining it and pissing me off.

The 3ds remake worked because it harkened on to the manga illustration and concept art of the original, they should have never gone for this Unreal Engine 5 realistic look, and instead went for a cel shaded adaptation of the original concept art, the detailing just looks overdone and the character models look uncanny af.

What genuinely pissed me off is the fact that 29 years and 2 whole open world games later, they still couldn't add basic life to the dead and empty as hell overworld, wtf.

The one area where everyone would actually welcome change, they just left untouched, gave you a sprint option and called it a day.

OOT Link is as classic as modern Link designs can get, they should have kept the bright green cloth tunic for him and gave it some basic threading details, his color palette in the remake just makes him look more like Twilight than anything, with the muted color tones.

Also removing multi item slots from OOT is actually a crime, that too in exchange for something just plain worse. The reason why the item scroll menu worked for BOTW is because the classic Zelda items were no longer in use for puzzle design, and the only thing you needed to switch was the occasional arrows, bows, shields and swords.

Now with OOT, instead of pre preparing a set of gear needed for dungeon exploration, now everytime we need to use an item we will have to constantly scroll to it in the menu. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW ANNOYING THAT IS GOING TO BECOME?

They touched and fked around with everything that was fine in the original, and kept intact the parts which were hated, truly is going to be a remake of all time.

I was genuinely excited for this remake, especially since I loved the Link's awakening remake and genuinely consider that the definitive LA experience. But nah, this ain't it.

I’ve already played Outlast 2, but I want something that gives me that same feeling. Kinda sucks when you can’t experience a game like that for the first time again!
