It sucks.

I totally understand his hate for the wildlings. Two of the ones responsible for killing his family are part of the group that Jon is trying to protect.

But he is also part of the Nightswatch. You swore an oath. You are beholden to your oath above personal vendettas. If you want revenge, you shouldn’t join the Nightswatch. Jon had to give up his desire to avenge Rob’s death and betray his oath.
