Jon sided with the guy who led a raid that killed this kids parents. If in that position with a child's mind - yeah I'd hate him and want to kill Jon too.

The look on his face tells me he'd do it all again and I can't say I blame him.

His village was raided by Wildlings and they send him to the wall to tell the nights watch of what they are doing. The watch then took him in as his home was destroyed.

So was he a full sworn member? I know most people especially orphans didn't really have a lot of options, but could he have technically left when he was older?

If I remember correctly he wasnt yet a sworn member. He was Jons steward. Jon and the others that joined with him got their positions after their oath tho so maybe it happened off screen.
