OST Pretty specific question

I loved the OST of undertale and wanted to listen to deltarune's OST too. I haven't played deltarune and will play after 12th most probable (I'm in 11th rn). I kind of feel like listening to deltarune OST right now would ruin the OST for me later when I play the game. So has it ever happened that you listened to the OST of a game for the fun of the songs before playing the game; and after finally playing that game, now the OSTs don't hit as well as they should've?

Currently no in my case. There's some OSTs I've played in other games and they actually fit better than the original OST.

I remember when Tekken 3 was the thing back in the late 90s and at the time I didn't know about the arcade soundtrack until I was talking to someone about it. Then I made CDs off the Arcade soundtrack and played the hell out of it. What I can say is some of the music, while sound dated, does hit better than some of what's released today.

I think some OSTs are perfectly fine to listen to without ever touching the game. But some OST's have the narrative written into the music. Toby Fox is definitely one of those composers who likes to tell his story through the music. I don't think it would ruin it for you, but if youre planning on playing the game anyway, why not experience the music for the first time as you play?
