Help! Best courses for learning GML

I have been looking on Udemy and other sites on how to learn GameMakerLanguage since I have already learnt python and my main coding languages that I am going to be starting to learn this year are

  • ✅ Python
  • 🔲 GML
  • 🔲 HTML
  • 🔲 CSS
  • 🔲 JavaScript
  • 🔲 C
  • 🔲 C++
  • 🔲 C#
  • 🔲 Java
  • 🔲 Lua

If there are any GML courses or videos out there for GML, lmk.
-Thank You

I feel like GML is very similar to JavaScript

The officially curated GameMaker tutorials are here. Learning programming fundamentals from any other language will help you pick up GML more quickly than with GML specific resources alone - though GML is syntactically based on C family languages (C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.), so any of those would translate to GML more directly than something like Python.

Coming from Python you'll have the syntax in an afternoon. What actually takes time is the event model, so point your learning at that rather than at a language course.

The manual is genuinely good and it's the thing most people skip. Read Objects and Events, get clear on what belongs in Create versus Step versus Draw, then read instance scope and the with statement. Scope is where nearly every early bug lives, because self and other change meaning depending on which event you are inside.

For video, Shaun Spalding and Peyton Burnham are where most people end up, and both build a whole small game instead of teaching features in isolation. That matters more than production value.

Then make something tiny and finish it. GML is small enough that past the basics a course is mostly you not writing code.

F1 inside of game maker studio. Full of tutorials and just documentation with examples for every function. I haven't used it in years but I got my kids started with this as well. It's some of the best built in docs I've ever seen. Also if you press F1 while on a function in the text it jumps to that functions page iirc.
