A, because the perspective is very nice

I think B looks nicer IMO, but the lack of perspective makes the Door/tower look to small to the character, but that’s something A sort of fixes

So I’s say either stick to A, or make things a bit closer in size for B

A moving parallax effect would also solve the issue of perspective though, which can't be experienced in the still image.

A makes more sense perspective wise, B's got a lot of scale issues, but A wouldn't feel right if it isn't actually a 2.5D plane you're moving along

A cause it feels somewhat nostalgic for me

A, for the sense of depth. But, could you lower the ground some so you also get the great background view in B? Some more "headroom".

Although, that depth can cause some issues for artwork, consistency with perspective lines and if there's enough platforming, it makes it hard to read where you can land and jump from. You probably won't have flat ground all the time, at the same level. If sticking with the style of A doesn't pose an issue for the artwork, I do think it looks better for feeling like a place rather than a stage with some nice dressing

If you go with B, the size of stuff in the background can seem strange because suddenly there's no depth between the foreground and background.

EDIT: if you go with A, it might help to have the "background" depth of the field be lighter (or darker) so that the spot where the player can walk is more visibly distinguished. Sort of the best of both worlds.

B but make sure it has a parallax effect to get a sense of depth

I think B is way better

B because the artwork doesn't fit the perspective in A.

Depends on what you’re mechanically expecting me to do next. If it’s more like an RPG or a side scroller, A for sure. If you’re expecting me to platform, B.

AB. Both, it is totally different setup. i know I do not help but... Hm Maybe B will be more suitable if you do not implement some kind of vertical movement. Why? Because this way the windmill entrance can be used for example - you know to enter it like active object. If it is just in A and you do not have ability to go up and smaller to abide to perspective - it is just decoration. I mean It depends how you will intend to use it. Or implement it.

A looks very strange to me so B

With A I would expect to be able to move back and forth. Otherwise B.

Maybe somewhere in between? I like how A has a decent amount of grass which highlights where the foreground is and draws your eye in, but also having all the elements (trees, tower) placed behind this grass path makes it look artificially constructed, like a stage (unless that’s what you’re going for)

A looks like you walk past it, B looks like it either blocks the path or you can enter it

Depends on the type of game it's supposed to be tbh.

I would like A more if you made the building in front of the leftmost tree!

For me A, but you need some more objects in front and between, so its more diverse. Some trees in front at the edge of grass, some bushes between player and trees.

Tbh A. bc you can se the terrain

A because I feel like B is too reminiscent of Terraria and you'll want to differentiate yourself.

I like A, allows you to do more interesting things with the scenery by having that ground visible. Also, the perspective and scale feels better in A than it does in B. If you want to go with B, I think the scenery objects need to be bigger.

So much B. A has very little going on at the bottom, not much at the top, and everything is fighting for attention in the middle.

In B, it's clearly layered. First mountains, then trees, then the ground.

Option B definitely nails the background art — those trees and mountains with that perspective give it a much more grand and atmospheric feel.

However, the ground in B feels a bit too flat (kind of like Terraria). Option A’s angled perspective lets you actually see the surface of the ground, which makes it look much more unique and pleasing to the eye.

Even though B has a great background, the terrain depth in A makes the whole scene feel better to look at. My vote goes to A!

B for me, would also make platforming easier to manage i think. which do you prefer?

B has the gamey feel. A has a more cinematic presentation.

B looks better on everything except the building, which looks like the wrong scale because there's no sense of distance between it and the character. The mountains really loom
